Amazing review

Great video and overview. I bought one in 2019, but due to taking in an elderly parent and adding a room onto the house, I never put it together until this week...Yep 4 years later. All the parts are intact, the top - in solid mahogany is georgous. Just about ready to stand it up and then - I didn't order wheels! So, will be another week :-) before I'm set up. Because these things are so heavy, you need to order the wheels and install the first time. You will not regret them.

Good job. Comprehensive. I need a desk that will also work as a keyboard stand which is around 29”, so I’m interested in lower as opposed to higher. Thx, mate!

I picked uplift also. Out of six different other brands, they have THE MOST options except for one. The desktop itself. They have square edged desks only. I prefer a rounded edge tabletop for safety reasons, but they no longer have those. So I'm having to pair the frame only with another brand's tabletop.

Great review, and I really appreciate that you did it as a regular customer AND listed all the pros and cons. There are too many "reviews" that just shill products for referral fees. One quibble - if you're getting a top-notch desk you should invest in a matching quality surge protector. That $22 one has nice spacing BUT seems to be lightweight (cheap), have some bad reviews, a pretty high 350V clamping voltage, and a fair number of complaints about not protecting against damage or even causing power noise, even with the ETL listing (check recent and critical reviews). 4000J gives it a little more longevity but do you really want 350V going into your expensive computer equipment? Invest in a decent Triplite or Furman surge protector. Since I put most of my electronic equipment, home theater, computers and phone chargers on decent power strips or power conditioners, I haven't had any issues with electronics getting fried or "wearing out" over time, even when running them during lightning storms and we have a lot of them down here. The 'power conditioners' especially clean up the output of analog components like receivers, TVs and speakers, but even a $50 Tripplite surge protector would be a big step up and keep your computers and speakers safe for years to come. Good luck! Also, while the USB ports seem nice those are almost ALWAYS going to deliver noisy, damaging, poor quality power. Modern USB devices expect or benefit from a series of different voltages up to 20V and higher current which cheap low-end USB supplies can't provide. They also have power-factor correction to save you money on the power used. Other than that, great video and keep up the good work!

Not sure what you're looking at, but I couldn't find any bad reviews for the surge protector. Outside of that, I do agree with your sentiment. Also, is running a single extension cable to power the surge protector dangerous? I thought that was considered daisy-chaining and a big no-no. Mostly asking for myself because I'm trying to find a long cabled surge protector to avoid doing that. Thanks!

​@@f.ence. If I have $3000 of equipment I'm protecting, I won't bat an eye at using a $100 (or more) surge protector. A little bit of protection goes a long ways. As for the Trond, Fakespot gives that model a 'C' with a lot of fake reviews, and says Amazon altered or removed ~230 reviews. That's not a brand I've even heard of tbh after years of researching and buying nice surge protectors and line conditioners. Looking deeper, I'm spoiled by higher-end surge protectors. IF this one is as good as the specs & real reviews say, then it's fine for what it does. However, if you're spending this much time and money on your desk, you probably have enough expensive equipment to justify stepping up to something like a decent Panamax, Tripplite ISOMAX, APC SurgeArrest Professional, ZeroSurge, etc. These have noise-filtering, cut the surges down a lot faster, will give a big indicator and/or STOP providing power once the MOV's are used up by surges (which is really important since otherwise you don't know that your cheap surge protector is just an extension cord now), etc. Even the cheap Tripplite's have that fail-open function. Daisy-chaining surge protectors causes fires. If it's just an extension cord, I believe that's against code and CAN be dangerous, BUT if you're careful and use a high-quality, very THICK extension cord, you can probably get away with it. I've done that a lot. Just don't use a cheap/thin extension cord in the middle. You want something with a nice thick 10 or 12 gauge cable - the cable should be at least as thick or thicker than the surge protector. Also, if you go higher end, a good series-mode line conditioner will give you even better results (ZeroSurge and similar). This may sound like overkill but since buying nice ones at home or work, I have never had a computer, TV, etc., die or become flakey due to either massive or accumulated small electrical surges, even after many years of continual use. The only ones that have become unreliable or died were on old surge protectors that I hadn't gotten around to replacing.

Fantastic video!!!!! My reason for getting a standing desk is so that I can lower it so that when I shoot videos my monitor is out of frame. I have two questions: 1. Do you think this is a good reason? 2. Will there be any stability issues with my 50 lb ultra-wide monitor that will be on this standing desk? Thanks.

Thanks! I think that is a good reason. I'd maybe be a little concerned if you don't have a good stand for your monitor. As long as its not too wobbly you should be fine. The standing desk doesn't rocket up and jolt to a stop by any means.

Would you be able to do a part 2 of this video and demonstrate how you adjust the monitor height when you adjust the desk height? And also an update review of the mount/monitor and the benefits of having the outlet next to the monitor mount location. Cheers! -Anthony

I’ve been sitting for over a decade working from home. I will be standing all the time once I make my purchase. I bought a cheaper manual standing desk from target for my part time job as a test. I have been only standing since I bought it. Looking at the uplift to switch my desk for my full time day job. I’m tired of sitting 😅

good desk, it is expensive but looks well made. My friend has a treadmill desk, a very basic yet functional one. Something youd consider? much healthier to walk than to stand (or sit). his was absurdly cheap (about 300usd i believe) but he lives in China.

as a fidgeter i get very restless and use it often

Did you have to assemble the wheels yourself?

Wow; everytime you touch that desk it very noticeably wobbles. I was considering this desk but may go for the 4 leg or the DeskHaus.

I believe it looks that way because it is on wheels that are on concrete. It's pretty sturdy if not for that.
