I just bought the Footprint 03’s. Upgrading from Mackie HR824 MK2’s. Super excited to step into the Barefoot world

Legitimately felt like I understood your adjectives about them, they weren’t vague or cliche, glad they’re doing you well; also, don’t let anyone put anything on them. ;)

Love mine too. Replaced FOcal BE6solo and sub. I did like the focals but had to sell to fund these. My alternate speakers are Neumann KH80 with the 750 sub and the MA1 system, but the Barefoots are stellar. I do mostly mastering, some tracking and mixing. my rooms are pretty decent and heavily treated. Im in Canada my BFMM45s came from Studio Economik in Montreal/via Long McQuade who I did finance them with. At almost 10k CDN. with tax a big investment, But I'm happy 3 years in. I have recently discovered the very useful NS10 mode that can help with sitting vocals in the mix mid wise.

The same thing happened to me when I ordered my mm45s. One speaker came on Friday, had to wait a few days for the other. I had to wait a few weeks for mine to get built though, so I had already been waiting and waiting.. and then when I found out that I only got one.. I was like... what???!!!!

I heard the original Barefoot MM27 monitors and just loved them. Due to some people complaining about ear fatigue, they adjusted them with the 2nd version and the newer monitors after that. I have the Focal Twins and tried the Focal Trios. They had the same family sound, but it separated out the vocals and guitars and snare on its own space so you could mix the instruments a little better. The problem I found was the instruments were now pointy at you in the mix. With the Twins, they were more rounded and pleasant to listen to for playback. The pointy Trios created ear fatigue after several hours so they went back to Vintage King The question i have for you is...are the instruments pointy in your mix which allow you to hear things better which is what the Trios do or are they just heard better with more front to back without the pointy-ness. I heard some people say Barefoots make you work harder to get a good mixes which can be a tiring but the results are great.

I would like a response to this as well - how do these compare to hifi audio speakers? I’ve been using my bf 45’s as living room monitors and they are great. About to maybe leave them there and get something else for the studio ?

Sealed monitors also have about three times the response speed, but there aren't all that many. Much better when you can afford them, and barefoot paired them with Hypex amps, absolutely amazing brand. Even the Footprint 1's are amazing, and they have come down in price while everything else goes up! Audio Forensics!

How’s these compared to MM35?

What if you connect these to a balanced xlr dac / pre amp like eversolo a8 ? How do these compare to hifi speakers ?

Do you know how these compare to the Footprint 01?

If you are just tracking and mixing, it’s not very necessary. Barefoot is very well known for having a strong low end. The micro main 45s (not to be confused for the the mm27 which is designed to be a full main on its own) are basically the main drives from the masterstack12, barefoot’s flagship speaker stack. Now they also pull out some things that make the minimain12, which literally are the same as in the master stack, very premium but the drivers are advertised to be the same so you can get the same performance without paying for the premium. If you are looking for mastering level clarity, skip the microstack45 (this is the sub and mm45s bundled) and get an mm27. But if you already own some mm45’s and need some extra bass they have a sub available
