My Parents Just Got Me The 4Tb Version! I'm so excited!!

Hey Pat I have a question! I want to do the 2280 drive in my ALLY since they are more affordable. Do you think there would be any issues if I put a thermal pad on top of the drive after installing it?

Was it 64 bit or 32 bit for the cloning software

What happens if you clone a drive with bitlocker on? Can't you just get the bitlocker code and put it in on boot?

If your not cloneing FYI it take 3hours to install everything from the cloud thats how long it took me to restore everything from the cloud with a 2tb ssd 2280 mod.

Not sure if it's wise to but an SSD straight over the CPU heatsink but I might be missing something.

With the larger NVME, does the ROG Ally support more than 2TB? Can I put in a 4tb or more full sized M.2?

I think there is a max, but that would be in spec sheet. As far as I know it is only 2Tb, but you culd try partitining a 4tb into two 2 parts .

Within margin of error… I mean it’s not any worse than before , but I might have to do some proper testing

@AlphaEvan Yes I cloned my drive to a 4tb 2280 and it works fine.

There isn't enough room for a heatsink. What you could do is get some pure copper foil. Fold it several times so it fits the exact shape of the M.2 SSD. Add a bit of thermal paste on the black squares and use Kapton Tape to hold into place. The pure copper is best for thermal cohesion. And would fit nice and snug Or you could just carve out a rectangle out of the case.

So we don’t need any thermal tape or heat sink on the 2280? Main concern it being so close to the heat sink.

I highly recommend not using the 2280 adapter. I have burnt out 4 different adapters using different kinds of 2280s. The adapter sits over the CPU and and the ssd is on top hot as shit too. So the adapter is in the middle of a volcano sandwich. Pay the extra and get a 2230. I am the Guinea pig lol. It's not a proper solution. Asus designed it the way they did for a reason.

Samsung has a free software for cloning.

Where is the fucking link for that SSD cloning enclosure you show here? All I can find are affiliate links to overpriced bullshit when I get get the same items for cheaper on newegg or hell, even best buy itself.
