Thank you for this video! It got me past a couple reassembly spots I was stuck on. I did the full DadsOleTackle upgrade to my oldest ABU, a vintage 5500 and WOW the difference is amazing! The level wind travels 500% further then before (gliding 3 full travels across the worm gear instead of 1/2 travel) when spinning the empty spool with my finger. Handle cranks smoother too. The carbon drag washers with "Cals drag grease" is super smooth and supposed to increase drag power around 33%. That makes the drag go from 15#s to around 18#s. I loved the kit so much I did my other 3 ABUs. All made a dramatic difference as they are all from the mid 1980's and early 90's. I added the ceramic pawl to all the reels but noticed no difference. The level wind travels exactly as far on all 4 reels with or without it. Since the ceramic pawl wont rust or corrode and will last forever its worth adding to complete all upgrades. I was wondering if the bearing in the spool was the same size and this video helped me lol

I had changed my original 4601c3 levelwind with dual bearing levelwind, single bearing idle gear and boca orange spool bearing. I felt no significant smoothness in cranking. But gaining more distance in casting maybe because i am using boca bearing. Recently i put i one bearing in the bottom of main shaft after i machined the mainshaft using mini lathe. And i put very thin bronze sleeve/bush inside top of main shaft since it wobble a little bit. But only after i grind the top of the post that went inside the main shaft i can slip through the bronze bush and no more woble shaft.The funny things is for some reason Abu made that the diameter of that post smaller than the diameter of the top of the post. Making the shaft woble a bit when cranking it even on new reel. Now I felt no more woble while cranking the reel, and more smoothness due to bearing inside of the main shaft.
