The 14.3v you measured after startup was coming from the car's Alternator to the terminals. The Avapow obviously has disconnected itself, as likely all these lithium packs do. You might want to steer clear of such testing, you don't fully understand how it works ~

Yes we are aware. We do understand how it works. We even said in the video that the volts were most like coming from the alternator. But in the case of a jump starter with no boost button its hard to measure accurate voltage when there is no power until the cables touch the battery. So if you know a good , safe way to test voltage on the Avapow with no boost button please let me know how to do it safely, and i will test. Thanks for the comment.

How dose the AVAPOW know it's hooked to the car battery if it's totally dead and has no voltage for it to detect in order to provide power to the Jumper Cables?

According to other reviewers and things we have read, the Avapow is supposed to have some kind of technology inside the unit, this way it knows when to deliver power, and when not too. We are just going by other videos

The Avapow 6000A does actually have a by pass button. Its a little red button on the side of the connector side. You have to hold it down for 3 seconds and then You have 30 seconds without a saftey, but i found out you have to hold the red button down while someone cranks the key on from the inside and your truck will start in -14° weather

The older generation A68 models never came with a red boost button. The A68 6000A put the Boost button in about a year after they made the original. So unfortunately our Avapow 6000 A68 does not have a boost. Thanks for the comment

So holding down the red button while also cranking basically keeps it unlocked or what? I understand a lot of these battery packs don't like coooollldd weather.. Good to know it will work when -14.

@bradwjensen The Avapow 6000A shown in this video did not come with a red boost button. However, the newer Avapow 6000A is equipped with a red boost button. So if your battery has under around 8 volts, you will probably need to push the red boost button since the Avapow will not detect that there is a battery if the voltage is too low. If you have over around 8 volts in your battery, the Avapow should be able to jump start without pushing the red boost button because the Avapow senses there is a battery. Keep in mind that when you push the Boost button on any portable jump starter, it just disables the security protections on your unit and will allow full power to be delivered.

@bradwjensen Yes because the safety mechanism built in doesn't allow steady flow of energy. It has intermittent pulses and you have to try and time it just right .unless you hold down the red bypass button then it sends voltage with out the intermittent pulses.

I picked up two Hulkman 85s based on your review vs the Noco a while back... that video was excellent and the 85s has been a dream. Today I got my Avapow 6000 and realized I didn't bother looking up a review because one of the Amazon reviews, the guy stated he started his 09 Freightliner with it. I'm heading back to work on Thursday and most likely my 2019 Freightliner P4 daycab truck (three batteries) will be dead from sitting for five days.. so I'll report back based off another comment asking about diesel jump starting.

Keep in mind that the Avapow 6000A does not have a boost button. Therefore, it most likely will not be able to jump-start a completely dead battery. It will definitely jump-start a battery with around 7 or more volts. But our recent experiences have shown that most jump starters with no boost button most like won't jump start a completely dead battery. FYI. The Avapow 6000A is a good unit, but not for completely dead batteries. I don't know why manufacturers just don't make all jump starters to be able to jump-start a completely dead battery. It just doesn't make much sense to me that some jump starters could only jump a partially dead battery, not a completely dead battery. We never know when our battery will be completely dead or not. That's why all units should have the capability to jump-start a completely dead battery. I guess I live in a dream World. Lol

@H & M REVIEWS CHANNEL sorry for the late response, wanted to get home and make sure I wasn't talking out of my ass. My box says Avapow 6000A model A68 on the box. And on the quick start instruction guide, there are instructions for the adapter blue and green lights and the final instruction is for the red button: Force Start Function > If above operations cannot start your car, please use the forced start function. > Ensure the correct connection of clamps before using force start function, long press the force button for 3s until the green light on. > Start the car within 30s.

@Tomasz Tyka My Avapow 6000A does not have a red boost button om the side of the cable module. I'm wondering if some units have it, and some don't. You would think all Avapow 6000a A68 models would have the boost. Weird. Look on your actual jump starter module and see if there's a red boost button. Some companies put different models in the manual just to show the models they offer. I just find it odd that you Avapow 6000A has a boost and mine doesn't. Lol

It looks like tinned cooper wires inside both cables, it says they are very flexible silicone 200C wires on both units. The Hulkman is AWG 6, and the Avapow is AWG 8 (As they advertise). Other than that, I have no other info on the style cables. have a Happy New Year

Hulkman is rock solid. Even the 8.5 is a killer. Very well built and great design. Its a shame they charge you for the case and its not cheap. Amazon has universal size 1/3 of the price. Goin to order my 2nd 8.5. Very important to have good contact with any clamp. Also, most people don't read the manuals, and so if the battery is totally dead, you need to turn on the by-pass function.

Yes, you are absolutely correct about the Boost button. Did you notice that Amazon stopped selling Hulkman jump starters for whatever reason. A subscriber brought it to my attention, and I checked it out for myself and sure enough no more Hulkman jump starters are sold on Amazon. I wonder what the true reason is

@@HM_RELOADED I noticed too. You have to go to Hulkman's site. I am assuming that Amazon could not get them to drop the price buying bulk. Hulkman was a start up and took off very quickly. It was on the web. I just got the new trickle charger from them and that thing is super.

Unfortunately the Avapow 6000A will not jump start a completely dead battery we have discovered with testing since this video ...it will definitely jump start a battery with around 5 volts or more in it. The car in the video did have a few volts in it even though the test light wasnt showing any. The Avapow 6000a does not have a boost button, as a result it won't start a battery will less then around 5 volts. It is a strong unit for partially dead batteries. First, check and see how much voltage is in your battery, if it's under around 5 volts it most likely won't be able to jump start your car battery. If you hook up the clamps to the positive & negative terminal and the light on the little cable module does not turn green, it most likely won't be able to jump start your car because its probably completely dead. Sometimes the green light will illuminate on the cable module and the car still wont start, it just all depends on the size engine you have, and if the Avapow 6000a is capable of jump starting your battery. The best info I could give is to read the instruction manual and get familiar with how it works. In the future, its always a safer bet to get a jump starter with a boost button, this way it will deliver power on those batteries with less then around 5 volts. Let me know if it works.

Longer cables = RESISTENCE/impedance = less power at the battery. This is one of the reasons these packs work so much better than jumper cables. VOLTAGE DROP is a very real thing. Longer cables may be conveinent but they cripple the ability of the jumpbox

  • @HM_RELOADED

    @HM_RELOADED

You are absolutely correct, but being these portable jump starters claim to have 4000--6000A (Peak), the longer cables are still going to be able to jump start with very little issue. We all know these jump starters are not producing the amperage they say, but they are putting out quite a bit. We have countless videos showing the longer homemade 3 foot cables jump starting V8 engines on the first shot with no issues. I could almost guarantee if these portable jump starters were putting out around 2000A or less, the longer cables would probably not work half the time because of the resistance drop (less power), as you said. But being these jump starters put out 4000--6000A, there shouldn't be any issues with the longer cables, as we have experienced so far. But you are absolutely correct with longer cables delivering less power. Thanks for the comment
