They live in shallow, intertidal areas, they actually sit in the mud and bask. We get these in Australia near my house. The fungus or skin problems become necrotic and the skin will expose flesh if wiped. They really require saline conditions to flourish.

In Philippines, we also have them. They also thrive in freshwater tanks, but most freshwater tanks I saw have driftwoods secreting tannin to aid fungal problems as well as live plants. I think the sharp plastic edges of the fake plants might be contributing to the case since they have a more sensitive skin compared to other snakes.

You give them live fish. Mollies and guppies.

What is the white thing on your snake’s face/head? Is that a fungus or just a common thing

It came with a fungal infection from the supplier.

Unfortunately my water company changed the chemicals they put in the water without prior notification. I did water changes for all my aquatic snakes and the next day they passed away. A few days later I received an email from the water company about the chemicals! I was really upset 😭 If they had told me in advance I would have bought water at the store and used it instead.

@@somedaymondayful Yeah I hope to find this species again but they are hard to come by. At least I know now to use bottled water.
