Update on Dublin Scam Lady on Dame Street - No luck with the Revolut.

Seems she has many names, nationalities and variations of the story - all generally successful.
She might even make it into a book someday.

What I really detest about these scammers is that they destroy any Hope a genuine person has of getting help, and they give everyone a bad name!

The bad thing about being stung with those people is they make u suspicious of everyone and u could end up ignoring a genuine person in need.

Act surprised and tell them the exact same story when they tell it to you. Then ask them for money.

There's one country lad in Dublin who's well known, he's allways around o Connel street and he's been trying to call his brother down the country for the last 3 years to get a lift home after being robbed and needs money to top up his phone.... Last time I was approached by him I told him he'd of walked it by now 😂

Thanks for posting. A Gardai friend of mine told me about 2 lads from Italy(or claiming to be Italian) out there travelling around Ireland. They say they are coming back from a fashion show and have left over men's designer jackets for sale. They show you the first jacket which is a good copy then they open a designer bag up and say they will throw in 3 extra designer leather jackets which they fold over quickly and put in the bag, the jacket they showed you is now thrown into the bag too. They say they will sell the whole lot for €200. Do not entertain these lads as its a scam and the jackets are obviously fake but the first 3 jackets placed in the bag are just rolled up pieces of leather.

During the Celtic tiger years around 2006 a man asked me for money on the NCR opposite the Mater Hospital which I refused. Just ahead of me there was a retired couple who said to me they had been asked for money 12 times between O Connell St and the Mater Hospital. It must be rewarding if so many people do it.

English lad here. I was lucky enough to work in Dubs back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Used to get stopped around O'Connell St, Stephens Green and spots around there by people who had "been robbed" etc. So definately not a new thing, but still suckers some people even now.

I worked in a guest house in Dublin 1. About 2001/2 a woman from Kerry came in and said she had been to see her sister in the Mater hospital and when going home her bag was robbed in Heuston station. I gave her a room and paid for it and later put an envelope with money under the door as I would be gone early in the morning when she woke up. I don't know if what she said was true or not but I believe she had some problems (not drugs) and I am glad I helped her.

There friends follow people around and put a sticker or some identifying mark on you so when she sees you, she knows you're a mark with a few quid. Be vigilant, aware of your surroundings and who's paying too much attention to you when at the till in shops or a ATM etc. Try and not carry cash and use, your cards as much as possible, preferably pre pay ones so you can't get scammed that way.

@@mickdonnellanwriter Sadly...an young Irish guy,I would say mid to late 20's,strawberry blonde hair, dressed extremely well,he stopped me as I walked past what I know as the old Harp bar, asked me could I help him get a bus back home, told him I had no cash on me and did he have a leap card,he said no as everything was stolen from him and home was Galway, that the ticket would cost €28,so I went into a shop an withdrew money, gave him €30 and because of your story I looked up the single ticket price to Galway and it's €14.40 🥲...before giving it to him I felt the need to say to him that I was a Christian, that he would have no luck with the money if he lied to me ? Maybe, or more so no doubt that applies to them ALL 🙏
