    George. If you ever decide to try an electric lawn mower then you should try Ego. They are the only brand worth trying when it comes to garden equipment. I have had mine for two years and I haven't been able to fault it. The 52 cm poly is better than the steel base models. Also make sure it has four blades not two.

    Not enough reviews on the bagging system. I saw one that said it stuffed the bag well but with the small mouth emptying would be a real hassle. I hope they update the bag design soon to a big, rigid bottom/top, and a huge gaping mouth. Bagging is critical for me. If the lawn is weedy you'd want to bag all the seeds, or if it's long you don't want to leave all that to smother or turn brown on the ground. The bag must have a solid bottom to avoid sprinkling all the seeds. The next gen should pay more attention to bagging with deep blade that sweeps everything through a huge exit into an open-mouthed huge rigid bag. After all it seems powerful enough.

    Milwaukee also offers a high lift blade. I just got their mower - its pretty impressive FOR an electric mower. Not having the full power all the time (i mean you CAN at the expense of runtime) compared to gas it a little annoying, but the convenience of not having to buy fuel, and deal with something not starting I THINK outweighs that.

    I’ve just ordered one after months of eying it up, the thing that swung me was at the moment the price had been reduced and they’re giving away a free leaf blower with purchase AND as you most importantly highlighted, im already extensively into the M18 range with 8 other M18 powertools and 10 batteries. For me as a professional gardener/landscaper, it probably the best mower on the market, its going to be used several times a day and that power is going to be needed, On top of that, as i said, I’m already in balls deep in the range and that is what swayed me.

    I have a lawn care business. I have two Makita 21" self propelled mowers I bought last year. Two months ago I bought the new Milwaukee lawnmower. It is more powerful than the Makita mower but I just returned it because it was already falling apart. The rubber striping rear flap was half ripped off. The self propelled motor sometimes I had to try to turn on two or three times before it worked. The rear latch door does not hold the mulch plug in. It discharges to the left which is wierd. The height adjustment lever bangs against fences and jumps out of the setting. With the discharge to the left anyone would run the right side against the fence line and that's why it hits the height adjustment lever. Milwaukee has bugs like I said and is too expensive. I am back using my Makita mower again.

    I have owned this Milwaukee electric mower for a little over a year now. It mows ok , I'd say about 85 to 90 % as well as my old John Deer JX75 gas powered mower did. The biggest disappointment came in the fall. It did a really poor job of sucking up leaves. I got the "high lift" blade hoping that would do a better job but I didn't notice any difference. Bottom line, the lawn mowing is acceptable. Have about 50% battery power remaining after doing my 5000 to 6000 square foot yard. ( Battery usage varies depending on how long and heavy the grass is ). The leaf removal is very disappointing. Not sure why this mower generates so little suction to pick up leaves?

    @4thewin…maybe you can help me. I have .5 acres that takes me 85 minutes to cut due to a hill in the backyard. I have a 2015 Toro SR that I want to replace with an electric. I have looked and looked but it seems the battery platform isn’t there yet for someone like me. I got it down to the makita because I have a dozen of their LXT batteries, this Milwaukee and the Ego. What are you thoughts and would you consider the electric Toros such as the eTimemaster? I think I am about 2 years away from going electric, but wanted to get your thoughts.

    I am fully vested in the Milwaukee Systems. Hand tools, trimmer, blower, chain saw. When it came time to buy a new mower of course I wanted an Electric, and being so vested in the Milwaukee system I thought this would be the mower. However after watching a number of reviews over months, and seeing the price, I could not do it. I ended up with the Ego Select cut. Mostly excellent reviews, Got it on sale plus an extra Battery give away. Saved 50% over the cost of the Milwaukee for arguably a better Mower. Plus Ego has a snow blower which I am eye balling for next winter. I believe, and hope, the second generation of the Milwuakee mower may justify its cost.

    How do you feel about the mulching capability of both? Did you sharpen the blades? I bought the Milwaukee and when I go over small leaves, it doesn’t mulch them as good as my 13 year old Honda that just died. I’m considering taking the Milwaukee back and getting the Makita. The nice thing about the Ego mower is the dual blades, but I really don’t want another platform and am not fond of the plastic deck either.

  • @4thewinak

    @4thewinak

    Жыл бұрын

    Have you tried adding a mulching blade? The mulching capability leaves a lot to be desired by both. I’d say they’re both the same with the default blade, no significant difference. If you’ve used the Honda dual blade system, it’s won’t really compare. I did not notice a significant difference with the mulching blade. If I have to give a slight edge, the Milwaukee will do a better job mulching, but I did use it on high lift mode the entire time. The higher blade speed probably helped but still not comparable to the Honda dual blade system.

Attachments are pretty cheesy but my biggest complaint is the batteries. Will only charge to 60-75% now.. (In a draught zone and don't water, only mow 4 months out of the year.) So am I supposed to buy new batteries (at 250.00 each) every 2 years?? Totally unacceptable- going back to gas.

    E.V. mowers are the way to go and over 75% of those viewed in Home Depot and Lowes, etc. are now E.V. models either driving or riding, but this guy needs to forget throwing all that grass on his nice yard and use the bag that comes with the machine. Nasty! If nothing else, mulch it, but bagging sure looks neat. Had three Honda mowers that each lasted ten to fifteen years each, but much maintenance and E.V's are taking over and lighter, less parts to worry about, enough power, no oil, gas, plugs, etc., etc. It is not like a E.V. car that has to have charging stations every 200 miles or stay overnight in a motel and hope you can find a charging station that is open to you. NO, electric mowers are wonderful and many have several batteries and can handle most lawns too. Just plug it into your 120 volt house power and NO worry. Most batteries have a five year warranty and the big deal unlike gas mowers they fold up so you can store them with little space in your locked garage. So many advantages. Plan on buying one this late fall, only for winter leaves, as I have professional lawn care, (small business owner), etc. In Alabama it stays nice most all year, but we live on top of the bluff of a mountain and Alabama is 85% tree cover, so lots of leaves later in the short two month winter. Also, did you know, that you can write off your cost for a new lawn ridding mower or self-propelled electric on your taxes. It is considered a "capital expense" and that is really good news. Wonder if one day they will have an fold up ridding mower, as that would be outstanding. That may be asking to much!

    You obviously got one that was faulty and that slipped through quality control. The reasonable thing to do at that point would have been to exchange it nobody’s quality control is perfect. I am a contractor 23 years and I have had tools of every brand with issues. it’s not a team red thing It’s a common sense thing. You sound like the leader of the makita cult.

    I thought he was reasonably critical. He admits he is more familiar and partial to the Makita. You sound like a big red jock hawk lol. That said I love milwaukee-got 5K + M18. This is a 1st gen product with numerous issues. Lots of power, but it's a mower built by engineers with yard guys lol.

    Calling the guy a leader of a cult is what destroyed the credibility of his comment.

    I think Milwaukee so missed the ball with this over priced beast. They should had released a "true" commercial mower by making it a "push-only" not self-propelled mower, making it a "true side discharge only" that really works, not some add on afterthought like all the battery mowers are. That would get rid off the extra weight and stuff that will just break down and wastes battery power too. That and make it a "tool only" as most of us all have lots of M18 batteries laying around. Suddenly you would have a low cost mower that people would buy. $1,100, what a joke.

    Or Milwaukee should sell a bare tool version for around 700 dollars. So those who already 2 XC or HD high output batteries can save money.
