It will be interesting how they build the Milwaukee snow thrower. Because it's slightly possible to be the same battery set up as the mower. If they can and it works well ... it kinda proves large amph along with 40v is pretty capable.

@The Lawn Review well its mainly because Milwaukee finally used 2 batteries in series. Conversely they made so many HO hand tools at 18v ... and they can't run continuously. They are not good performers compared to the competition. They should do a 180 like makita for the bigger powerful hand tools.
Brand new owner of the Milwaukee mower. Before first mow I sprayed the underside of deck including blade with a dry graphite spray it see if it will reduce buildup or at least make cleaning daisies.

Mower prices have gone through the roof. My neighbor last month sold me his John Deere D-160 tractor with 100 hrs on the clock for $1700. After watching your presentation, I now know I got a deal. I'm sure that's not your mower of choice for that big yard unless you are a masacasis. I also have a Kobalt 80 volt lawnmower that I have used 125 times to mow my yard using two batteries one at a time. I now still use this mower for tight spaces. The problem with these new mowers is if something breaks, there are not many replacement parts.

Hey! Thanks for watching. I know you mentioned you don't have any other electric lawn tools - but do you have any power tools? Milwaukee, Makita and Ryobi all have battery series that can cross over from power tools to lawn tools. Run time will vary, but you can get the highest Ah batteries and those will last a while. With this one, I'd expect about 45 minutes or so. If you are bagging then you'll likely be able to extend run-time vs. mulching.

When they released this last year there were a lot of reports about the main switch having a design flaw that made it have problems engaging correctly in order to start the mower. Not everyone experienced it though, but I wonder if the issue was corrected in the inventory that ships out this season? I went with a battery platform last year and like it, but really wanted to try this mower because of the steel deck, but the entry price makes me hesitant to deal with an issue like that if its still present.

So if you're looking for one with a better price point that I would still use, EGO has one model with a steel deck which is great and an awesome battery series (thelawnreview.com/ego-select-cut-vs-select-cut-xp/). Found out that if you zip tie the handle so that when you squeeze the draw bar it leaves a gap just enough where the power button would stay engaged that way the mower won't shut off. After purchasing an AEG 58v mover with a steel base after 4 to 5 years the base paint peeled off exposing the base to the wet grass which within a fleeting period base started to rust. All 7 batteries purchased in that period developed faults. So, i am not a huge fan of electric movers with steel bases now. How hoping that brands start making electric mowers to last a bit longer. I have noted that ego has released an electric mover with aluminium based in 2024. In hindsight with steel base mower regular cleaning of the base after use and a bit of WD 40 spray after the clean to impair the rust may have extended the life of the mower

I've been using this mower for about 16 months. Coming from a Toro super recycler (gas) I used for 17 years. Cut quality isn't near as good but I have accepted that. Attachments are pretty cheesy but my biggest complaint is the batteries. Will only charge to 60-75% now.. (In a draught zone and don't water, only mow 4 months out of the year.) So am I supposed to buy new batteries (at 250.00 each) every 2 years?? Totally unacceptable- going back to gas.
@TheLawnReview
8 ай бұрын
Wow - what do you mean the cut quality isn't as good? Also how many acres are you on?
Was it charging the batteries sequentially instead of simultaneously? Might have been why it took twice as long. Also-you said run time was “ridiculous” but how much area of tall grass do you think you could you could realistically cover on a charge? I think I would multiply that by 75% to estimate what it will be in 3-5 years when the batteries wear.
@TheLawnReview
Жыл бұрын
I hadn't really thought about that until you said that. You very well could be right about sequential charging. Both lights were blinking like they were in "active" charging status but it could just be one after the other. Realistically I think if you had REALLY long grass like I tested in the video you could probably get a half acre mowed in a single charge. Milwaukee has a pretty good battery platform technology called "redlink" that is supposed to be extremely efficient!
Personal thought, Ego lawnmower or Milwaukee? I lost all my outdoor power tools due to a fire, but I have all Milwaukee power tools. My only downfall with Milwaukee, no snowblower in the pipeline I know of. But honest thoughts as to which you would go with. Cost isn't a factor. Thanks in advance.

Has 4 swing back blades with good suction. Self propel I thought would be awkward to adjust but is very intuitive. Commercial build quality is fantastic. Didn't want to spend most my savings 😢 with the extra 8ah batteries, but in practice they are well worth it. I wanted either Honda commercial fuel or battery Milwaukee. Makita LXT has cut off and lag issues so ignored Makita until I was shown the new XGT. A lot of videos show it beating Ego select cut and Honda cost more plus fuel costs. Just received mine today and two quick things to note. 1) You can easily add the Toro Stripe System to the Milwaukee mower AND use the rear side discharge. I just moved the stripe system over from my gas 22” Toro Recycler. 2) The mulch plug on the Milwaukee REALLY needs a redesign to lock it in place, as the back flap door spring is not strong enough to hold it in place. When you stand-stow the mower with the mulch plug in place, you can gently touch the mulch plug from inside the deck and the plug backs out with no effort. I may tape mine in place if I choose to mulch vice side-discharge (which I always did with the Toro).

Best mower i ever owned was FREE!!! A neighbor threw out a HONDA self propelled mower… about 13 years ago…one squirt of starter fluid and it started, turns out the drive belt was off the pulley, easy zero dollar fix… 13 years later still runs like new…

It is a great mower. The thing I love about the Milwaukee is that it feels just like that Honda one, but no fumes and no maintenance. Can't beat free, though!

I just gave away my 17 year old Honda self propelled mower , as well as my string trimmer and blower and got all battery powered. Just like not having to deal with gas and oil. My Honda still ran great and started on first pull if weather is warm enough.

@@TheLawnReview I went with EGO. Can’t give a long term review yet but it gave my Bermuda a really good first of the year scalp n bag cut! Love the trimmer and blower!

@@shannonstarr2232 Can't go wrong with EGO. Top of the line experts in battery-powered lawn tools. Also love that they just have the 56V line. We did a long review of their multi-tool. You should check that out if you want to do hedge trimming, pole saw, snow throwing or edging.
I will take my ego select cut xp any day over the Milwaukee. Select cut double blade system gives a better cut and ego has the best battery technology in the industry it makes Milwaukee look like an antique . I would put the ego 12 ah battery against any other mower battery and the ego has better battery technology

It is a really good mower as well. Wish it had a metal deck though
Let’s be realistic: the mower itself is about $500, and comes with $500 worth of batteries. This is right in line with other mowers on the market…Ego mowers with no batteries are right around $500. So, no it’s not the most expensive mower on the market. It only comes as a package and makes it seem super expensive.

Why are other mowers on the market a full package with batteries and still cheaper than this one?

@@TheLawnReview The newest Ego is $100 cheaper. Everyone has stuff in the $8-850 range, and none have the power of the Milwaukee. Some have far inferior product in the $600 range that isn’t even worth comparing to. Top line mowers are all pretty much in the same ballpark. I mean, DeWalt has a package putting out a measly 3lb-ft priced at $850! 🤣 Yeah, the Milwaukee destroys it.

Have you used the Milwaukee?
Not even close to being worth the money. Ego has cornered the market on mowers for one simple reason. The one battery echo system!!! Having two batteries sit in your garage or tool shed all winter after spending $1100 is a complete waste and is just a setup for a bad day when they both are found dead and unusable when you need them. (like most cheap cordless drills) I use my Ego batteries all year long between my blower and my 2 stage snow blower then all season with all the other tools they power. To spend this kinda money on one tool is just a waste. I dont see this mower being around in 2 years.

The strength that MIlwaukee has is that you can take the same tools you use for your power tools in the garage and use them in the mower and their other tools. EGO doesn't have that breadth yet. But I have to admit - EGO makes some darn good lawn tools. The Milwaukee is better, but maybe not worth the price.
