UofT GRADUATE reviews UofT Life Sciences

Just a honest review from someone who bounced back after suffering from the darkest time at UofT. My biggest hope for this video is to end your worries and put your nerves at peace. No matter which path you choose to take, there are pros and cons. I trust that you will thrive strongly in the midst of hardship. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Hmmm I see why you are anxious about this whole uni thing during covid but honestly it's really up to you after all. I believe uoft is planning to resume in person activity in the fall and I remain optimistic about the situation (in case you are interested, an update from the dean regarding fall 2021: www.artsci.utoronto.ca/covid-19-arts-science?HPButton&Button&HPButton). Hope this helps and good luck on your new journey at uoft!

Hey! I was wondering if the email has to be formal (like a cover letter) to ask if you could be a research assistant?

  • @kimm-ing2666

Hi Simone! It should be professional! instead of "hey professor xxx", start with "Dear professor xxx". Keep the email short and informative - who are you? the purpose of reaching out to them? your research interest? Hope this helps and I will make a video about this topic soon! consider subscribing and stay tune!

You have to read the profs papers, understand them, show your interest by proposing what else you can investigate. This shows creativity and understanding. It is no where as easy as "Who are you? Why are you contacting? Why are you interested". I hope the channel provides better instructions and also shares the sample letter that got her the research assistant position.

Is UTSG a good choice for medical ? I have gotten into U of T St. George and it is my top choice but I have heard that it is very difficult to score a good GPA and without a good GPA it is very difficult to get into a good med school. This has caused me to be confused about whether to get into U of T. How true is this ? Also have heard that the mental support resources are not too great - is this true ?

Hi Kim! I am wondering what I can do if my GPA is not great with life science degree. Asking for a friend. My other question is: what are the things you can do with UofT PhD degree? I heard not much can be done beside academia or potential industry.

Hey, Kim! Your video was beautiful n really helpful tbh! I had this doubt that I really needed to be cleared in my mind. It goes like this... My % in grade 11th was 70% My % in grade 10th was 82% n finally My % in grade 12th is 92% I have decided already what double majors I have to do with the minor in the life science program of UOFT It's my dream school. But this thing with my grade 11th % makes me really very anxious literally every day that I won't get in, its like way too less but I make myself comfortable saying I scored pretty good in 12th grade. So I wanna ask will my junior year n sophomore year grades matter in front of senior year grades when I'll submit them for REGULAR decision??? Really looking forward to your answer! Regards!

I might be wrong but I believe Gr.10 marks don't matter at all, gr.11 marks are more of a placeholder for early acceptance, gr.12 marks are the ones that actually count for everything. 92 is amazing dw!

Hey @sanya jain, thanks for watching and i really appreciate the kind words!! Back then when I applied, I was told that grade 12 marks are most important in terms of getting accepted. I think for early acceptance, admission office might look at grade 11 marks. Not sure if this is still the case. According to uoft, the admission average for lifesci (st george campus) is low-mid 80s, keep in mind that the pool of candidates varies year by year, some years might have a higher average than other years so I guess it really depends unfortunately... best of luck with your future endeavours! some links you can look at, just an fyi - www.artsci.utoronto.ca/future/ready-apply/admission-categories/life-sciences#admission-requirements-accordion-3 - www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca/programs/1104
