Planting a lot of marigolds, chrysanthemums, lavender, rosemary, basil, thyme, and lemongrass will help with the bug situation. I think marigolds, chrysanthemums, and lavender are your best bet. I plant marigolds in my garden every year and it keeps the bugs from eating my plants. I also added lavender this year.

Turn your citronella plants into candles after the season is done. Steep the dry plants in hot water, like tea, let this steep a day or two and freeze in ice cube trays to use on yourself as a repellent and store in baggies in the freezer. As well you can do the same with warm oil, let steep for about a week in a warm place, seal and save for next season. We do this with citronella, lemon grass etc.

When doing plants from seed Hannah as soon as they sprout a good stalk add a fan so that they can get stronger.I didn't realize this but once I did it was like.night and day with seed starts. The fan breeze just allows the plant roots to hardy themselves for planting outdoors in spring summer. If not the plants get spindly and shortly after can die.

Hi Hannah. I think you might like soil blocks for starting seeds. They make it very easy to see if your plant babies need water and they make transplanting super efficient. You can even start varieties with sensitive roots in them. You would need a soil blocker, a 1020 tray, and a 1020 bottom tray.

As soon as the seeds sprout, take off the covers they Probably had damping off is why they fell over and died. They need to dry a bit between waterings after sprouting, water from underneath if possible and have a fan on them, maybe sprinkle cinnamon to help with damping off. Also not reusing the seed starting mix will help too, start fresh and clean. It's a bit to learn but easy once you have done it a bit.

Of course you need to install a compression post under the mast. The deck area under the mast need to be solid without any core or it shall crush. Your mast compression post need to sit directly upon the keel. Once you have the mast up and start to tighten the standing rigging it’s going to push the mast downward with a lot of pressure. You tune or tighten the rigging to approx 14% of the wires breaking strength. To do this you need a tension gage like a Loose Tension Gage. Make sure your mast is centered and not bent or with camber.

Place mint leaves all around inside your home or vehicles whenever they sit for some time without occupancy. It really keeps the mice away.

Good job on the bird rescue. I used to work in a feed store and birds would come into the store from the warehouse. And if we left windows and/or doors open, they’ll be attracted to the sunlight and fly out when they’ve calmed down.😊

About your plant start issue; i too have been having wilting issues! And I’m not a plant expert, but what I’ve read is that an OVER watered plant = soggy leaves with browning, UNDER watering = crispy leaves with more of a dry paper texture

Pennyroyal is a mint that insects dislike. The oil of Pennyroyal is used by a few drops on your clothing. Around the cuffs,on the hemlines and on your hat etc. It is too harsh for the skin. I have used it for years and years and it even works for mosquitoes and no see ums ,etc. You can also grow it. It is a tiny and low ground cover. It smells very nice and minty.❤
