I think this may be the one! Is the stem adjustable up and down, or just the angle? I'd like to attach a Thule Yepp Mini child seat on the front and would need a nice round tube - at least 1" tall to clip on the adapter.

I purchased the Xpeak about a month ago. Having serious issues with the freewheel. Contacted Lectric. Jon was phenomenal. New parts have been ordered at no cost to me and Lectric will also cover the shop fees for parts installation. That's a level of customer service I'm simply not accustomed to. Mind, BLOWN! The KZread naysayers just plain wrong. No product is perfect, yet, great customer service bridges the gap between imperfect product and customer satisfaction. Thank you Lectric.

Biggest perhaps, but definitely not the best, and I own an XPedition. I’ve had to modify several features on the bike due to misalignment of poorly-made footboards, brake calipers to rotors, and a center kickstand that constantly loosened due to stacking a flat washer with a split-ring lock washer and that doesn’t include the misaligned mounting bosses for bottle cage and battery mounts, which are very visibly off-center but still function. They make great value e-bikes, but they have noticeable manufacturing issues, some of which can be dangerous (I checked the brake caliper alignment only after a friend had the rear pads ejected from the caliper while braking downhill due to the misalignment - it left unworn sections on the pads, which caught the edge of the rotor, kicking them out with a loud bang), but so far have been correctable. I didn’t nearly lose the center kickstand but my friend nearly did, and that may have caused a sudden loss of control. Net, they offer great value, but give them a very thorough inspection before you ride and during the first 50-100 miles. You may have to file/grind or replace some components.

@@misterrobert6799 Well, it’s not like they were helping me fix the issues. If it involves sending replacement parts, their customer service is good. When it goes beyond that, it stops being helpful. They did send replacement brake kits. The new bracket for the front fixed the misalignment issue. However, the one with the rear set now uses the original front bracket and won’t work at all - the caliper body hits the rotor before the bracket even gets close to the mounting holes in the frame. When I informed their customer service about this, they told me to take the bike to a shop for service. I can do just as good work as a bike mechanic to resolve the pad-rotor mis-alignment issue, and I’ve got the tools. Anyway, these oversights shouldn’t have happened in the first place, but it’s a risk you take with value brands. I still use the XPedition and like it for running shopping errands, but I’ve had more issues with build quality with it than other DTC e-bikes I’ve bought from other brands.

  • @chow-chihuang4903

    @chow-chihuang4903

    22 күн бұрын

@@misterrobert6799 Yeah, try to work with them during the warranty period. But if they don’t resolve the issue, and I can fix it, I will. From my experience, and that of my friend who has multiple Lectric products, if it involves shipping replacement parts for you or a LBS to install, they are pretty good. They got sent multiple controllers for their XP 2.0s, which kept burning them out. But if it isn’t as simple as that, they’ll refer you to a LBS or simply not acknowledge the problem, as in just not respond at all to it. When she mentioned the pad-rotor misalignment on her XPedition, they shipped new pads and a rotor for a LBS to replace, but didn’t acknowledge the misalignment. Neither did the LBS. They shipped me replacement brake kits for both front and rear, so I can’t complain about that. The new front bracket resolved the misaligned components there, but the rear’s doesn’t. In fact, with that bracket, the caliper body hits the rotor before the bracket even comes close to the mounting holes in the frame. When I mentioned this, I was referred to a LBS. They didn’t even acknowledge the four other issues I raised, three of which I fixed on my own by swapping or installing components, or grinding a mounting hole a little larger. The fourth doesn’t pose a functional problem, but sure is annoying whenever I look at it, and I can’t fix it as it involves braze-ons that are woefully off-center but not so much they don’t work or pose a safety issue.

I have four Lectric ebikes. Two 3.0's and two Trikes. No question the value is exceptional. I had to exchange one Trike due to a cracked axle bearing, which has been an issue for them. Thus far no repair process has been made, so there are many Trike owners that wonder what happens when the one year warranty expires? I'd like you two gentlemen at Ebike Escape to ask Levy about this. Phone support has no answer for that question. In warranty service has been great otherwise. They send new parts that are damaged in shipment, mostly fenders, and sent the hydraulic brake upgrade kits to existing owners.

I told Support what happened and asked for the cost of the replacement. They sent me a new one at no cost. We then had a display crap out on one of the XPs and I emailed support and again no hassles or questions, they just sent another one. I have had three super positive experinces with Lectric. Ride #1, my son took a spill an bent the derailleur and break lever. I was ready to buy a new part, but Lectric customer services sent them free of charge. Several months later, there was a big push to get hydraulic brakes installed on older bikes. They made that process easy to register for, and a whole front wheel and new hydro brakes were sent, along with a $100 towards having a shop make the repair. Crazy right. Lastly. Due to my own absent mindedness, my shattered the screen when i was transporting the folded bike. Reached out to lectric to get the part number so i could but one online, and before I knew it they are shipping me one for free. They are not fancy, but if you are looking for an e-bike I would recommend Lectric without reservation.

As a 70 yr old that own a few e-bikes, at about the 6:03 mark when you stated the DOWNSIDE of a torque sensor, I have to disagree. I totally prefer a torque sensor over a cadence sensor, and I own both. In fact, I just ordered another bike and yes, with a torque sensor. I can understand people will get better range with pedaling a cadence sensor vs. just using throttle. After I ride a cadence sensor and then ride a torque sensor, I always feel I've cheated myself having ridden the bike with the cadence sensor. And feel I might as will have just used the throttle for the little workout I got from the cadence sensor. I'm to the point having owned both, it's highly unlikely I will ever buy another cadence sensor bike. I own a Wire Freedom and bought it because of the rear suspension. I like to pedal, and I'm thinking about selling it because I can't stand that cadence sensor, and feel most people that ride the Freedom are “throttle jockeys”. BTW, in 2019 I bought the original Lectric XP, the one with no suspension, and sold it in 2023. I think Lectric is a good starter bike, but doubt I'll ever own another "low end" e-bike.

I enjoyed you podcast. Question (1) for the LECTRIC ONE. Is there a spot to store an extra battery on it? Purpose of use: I want to do another long tour and have my wife use the Lectric One as the SAG vehicle while I pedal my recumbent. My wife is Thai and tops the tape measure at 4'11 so the 20" wheels ergonomically work for her. Also my recumbent is 20" wheels so we can converse while riding 2 up at the same level! The Lectric One is quite the package and the less maintenance I have to do on my own the better. I was first choosing the Expedition Dual cargo bike because of the extra battery, but the "ONE" has more excellent features. Also (2) can the rear rack be designed to handle ORTLIEB Clip-on Bags? (This came up in a talk with other bikers as to how they can transfer all the gear we have build up from pedal bikes to EBikes.) Might be another good selling point for you. Again great show and seems to be a great company. Hoping you all a highly successful future.. Your thoughts please, Mike

You asked how they make money on first question . Low cost parts for sure . Low cost motor , low cost battery pack . On that note i hope they did not go even lower quality on the motor on the xpress as i watched one video and the motor was very loud so time will tell as customers come out and review them .But if they work and work well for the price then that’s fine . My issue has been as an owner of the Lectric 3.0 is there e-bikes are rated for 28mph but its a pain to reach that 28mph let alone attempt to keep that speed . Huge issue for me . Tried my friends 2.0 and same thing . They have one that wobbles bad if you dare to lift hands off the handlebars . Badly balanced . One where you will hit your foot on the front tire when turning (potential accidents with it) but and this is a big but, they have excellent customer service . That is a huge plus for any company . I have heard of plenty of e-bike companies that have horrible customer service and do everything they can to get out of a valid warranty claim . So just need to fine tune there e-bikes more before putting into production . Now in the interview he mentions comfortably maintaining 28mph pas 4-5 then i may seriously consider purchasing this . Now i wish whey would do away with the 10ah pack and start with 14ah for low end and 20ah for high end . Look up how much each cell costs and you will see the price difference they pay for an extra few cells is literally just a few dollars . Need to get rid of 10ah . They put that in there $2000 e-bike and just no . Right now there is competition at the $2000 price point putting in 60v 20ah packs . The norm at that price is 52v 20ah minimum

Here's what I can tell you as far as the difference between torque and cadence peddling: If you desire a natural peddling feel get the torque. If you want to hit the top speed easily without much effort get cadence. I have both but torque peddling is preferred because I enjoy the exercise of torque peddling. The Mokwheel has 5 PAS settings and I can hit 28 mph in PAS 1. You can't do that with cadence peddling. Going to PAS 3 or above with torque peddling requires much less effort to get to 30 mph and stay there. Cadence is easier but torque is more natural and won't jerk you out of the saddle.

Another benefit to torque sensor e-bikes is the control you have over motor assistance. It helps when navigating through tight turns or maneuvers, such as making U-turns on a path or threading through one of those gates sometimes installed on a path at an entrance or at rail crossings. I find I have to turn off all assistance with a cadence sensor system or get off and walk the bike, but I can ride through just fine with my torque sensor bike. It’s also easy to match speeds with other riders with a torque sensor, especially in a tight formation. It can also be done with a current/power-based PAS on a cadence sensor bike , but very difficult with a speed-targeting PAS driven by a cadence sensor.

I never have been a fan of twist grip throttles. Thumb throttle is perfect! I only use throttle to take off in traffic. I pedal all the rest of the time so I would rather have a full grip just to hang on to while pedaling. I love the look of the bigger tires that are only 2.1" wide. I have been riding my XPremium for 2 years now and find I don't need all the racks to carry heavy stuff around because I just ride my bike for exercise and for 20 to 25 mile rides usually. I have had people say things to me on the bike trails (maybe because of the big fat tires on the XPremium that some people misjudge). This XPress looks more normal and I like that. Wish they had some blue paint somewhere on the white step thru model. Now I do love my XPremium but it isn't much fun to put in my Ford Flex at the end of a ride. I think I can put this XPress into the back of my Ford Flex a whole lot easier. I am waiting till tomorrow to place my order just to feel better about my decision but I am sure I will so I can get in on the sale. I will use the link Ebike Escape has so they can reap the little reward that they deserve for putting out this great review. I have been a subscriber for quite awhile. These guys are great. And so is the Lectric company.

Because most bike manufactures cheap out on the charger. A higher amp charger would cost them more. On the plus side, slow charging is gentle on the battery, the battery will last longer.

They are really striking a blow against many other bike companies with these low-priced but relatively full-featured bikes. My thoughts are: 1. I prefer a thumb throttle as it is, in my view, safer. 2. The use of the Tourney derailleur and shifter is a cheap out and many of their competitors use as a base shifting system the Altus with trigger shifters. 3. I work at a bike shop and we are often getting in various Lectric bikes for repairs. The quality of these bikes, again in my view, is below that of the competition. I understand this, as they are a high-volume manufacturer, however, for a few hundred more you can get an equally good or better bike from Velotric, Aventon, or Ride1Up. I would not put Rad with those three as I think their technology is behind at this point. 4. Bike makers are now more careful to get UL certification not only on their batteries but also as Velotric has done on their entire bike (Discover2). Without this certification, bikes cannot be sold in New York City and I think you are going to see other jurisdictions follow suit. 5. Torque sensors are the way to go. If as Levi says their sensor has some sort of unique design and function as he described, I will give that to him. While these bikes get more people out there, it comes with a price and I think that over time these bikes will be starter bikes for many buyers and fodder for landfills.

Can anyone explain what is wrong with the in hub motor? Why make bikes super dumb expensive (looking at that new 2k lectic bike) that go the same speed? Seems like they are overly complicating things when they need not be. The 3.0 is a great bike. Anything above $1500 in price is just to stressful to have locked up some place to be easily stolen. Who needs that drama?

Looks like the same frame design as the Xpeak which means it will likely have the same death wobble on the step thru model. Ill take a pass on the step thru no matter what because of that, I hate thumb throttles but that isnt a deal breaker since if can be changed very easy. That newer controller they were using is just plain bad, I hope this corrects the issues they had with those. It sounds like they may have from what you are saying.

thumb throttle is ok. Right hand thumb throttle is ultra stupid. Need to be able to throttle and shift down gears at same time when starting on a hill. Lectric has bad PAS "improvements". Regular PAS gives constant speed which is always what you want. Pedal harder and be rewarded with more range. Also do not have 9 PAS levels, which is perfect for "want faster 5km, then bump up 1 PAS level." Torque is terrible for commuting. Good for lazy newbies only, who'd probably prefer a no pedal scooter anyway.
