Unveiling the 1970 GTO.

Our oldest sister bought a 1970 GTO back in the 70's (picture of blue GTO in video) and that car was handed down and driven by all the siblings at one point or another. I (Ray) was the last one to drive it as I'm the youngest. The car was wrecked on my watch and taken off the road and is now gone. In late 2020 I (Ray) found and purchased another 70 GTO. This is the car that I purchased. Hope you enjoy the video.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.

"It's just like driving a fifty-two year old car." I like that line and will probably use it some time. I've got a similar situation, except I had a '70 Le Mans when I was in High School. I always wanted the GTO and when I finally grew up and made good money I was able to buy one like you did, palladium silver, like yours, numbers matching, but a convertible with the Judge cosmetics. I can't fill it up with gas without someone coming over to me to talk about it. I told my girlfriend I could pull up in a corvette and no one would want to talk to me about it. I struggled with whether or not to keep it all original. It looks so much better with the 15" wheels that really fill up that tire well with rubber. After the wheels I added sport mirrors and a Hurst shifter. That's about it, of course I still have the original items. Happy motoring.

Thanks for the kind words. Would love to see a picture of your GTO. I agree about your comment on the corvette - those seem to be everywhere but not GTO's. Lot's of thumbs up from other drivers when I'm out driving. I'm gonna keep this one as original as possible, have a set of 15" Rally II's that will go on in place of the 14"'s and I did buy a 2.5" Pypes exhaust with Ram Air Headers for it - still need to put those two things on it but that will probably be it for this GTO. Thanks again for the comment - much appreciated. Ray

Great post Great car as well My dad had a 72 GTO , was an awesome design . He had owned it since new and put over 220k miles on the original 400 motor before he sold it in the late 90s and retired

I totally understand, wish I had made sure our high school car was taken better care of. It was a 70 and just didn't have the $$ to fix it then. It was rough but man it could've been great. It was a Polar White 455 car and there's a video of us talking about it here kzread.info/dash/bejne/amaD1aarf5S-YtI.html thanks for the comment! R

Aurora Illinois, isn't that where Waynes's World took place? I don't suppose there's a Stan Makita's Donuts in existence. Na, but sir, you have an awesome Goat and the silver paint and original Pontiac wheels look fantastic. 👍

Aurora is where Wayne's World took place, I didn't see a Stan Makita's but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Thanks for the kind comments on the Goat. Those wheels are original the previous owner just painted them all black - I think I'm gonna change them back to original silver/black colors. Ray

NICE CAR just a note the fender edges in engine bay should be silver not black but no big deal .I own a 70 Judge it's Pepper Green i live up by T/C in Michigan ,1970 is the best year I think.

@bigdaddy9864 - thanks for the comment. Engine bay was painted by previous owner - probably in 85' when the car was repainted as well. I agree 70' is the best year but I'd own any of them. :-) Congrats on the Judge, would love to have one. Ray

@@twodrunkbrothersgarage4911 found my car when i was delivering LP gas to a secluded home on lake Michigan garage door just happed to be open ,you could just see the nose the car had stuff pilled all over it .Turned out that the guy was original owner was bought out in Reno NV .back in May of 1970 it is a real 242 GTO Judge "Ram Air IV " 400 4speed car too. What a fined, took me 2 year to get him to sell it and when he did we had became good friends by then i know you won't believe this but i bought it for $5000 the car needed paint but no rust .that was 1998 i have restored it took 5 years .I have PHS as you know that show's it all.

Southern Minnesota, I haven't looked the car over very good, but I think floor pan, quarters are bad, it has no engine or trans. I think he wants around $14,000 for it, but it is a real deal Judge. It was sanded down years ago by someone else, so no silver paint is on the car. He offered me the car, but its too big of a project for me. I just hope someone restores it cause it deserves it.@@twodrunkbrothersgarage4911
