I thought this building was supposed to be 70 stories + mechanical floors. If they wanted to make this building a good looking building, they should have made it at least 6 to 12 stories taller at the top section (a more natural aesthetic roof height/ pinnacle height). Anyway, I hope this company goes bankrupt. The last thing they need to be doing is to be building a new headquarters. It's the worst bank in human history.

I am more exited about the fact Art Deco is back. New York new buildings from 1950s to the 2000s had no soul. But in the 2010s and 2020s we are finally getting nice building again.

This building, when complete, will be beautiful. Such a beautiful design, great engineering and energy efficiency.

THIS is why Manhattan will always reign supreme. I spent a lot of time in the former 270 Park. It needed a makeover. WOW.

Gorgeous building.. Really adds the proper bulk to the skyline and uses the correct style

How much vacant unused , office space is there in NY? The rest of the country is loaded with it.

Don't let Benjamin netanyahu's best friend Larry Silverstein get the lease on that building.....

No one is a fan of JP but they have the money to build this astonishing new NYC landmark. I really like it. Happy to be back in 2025 and visit the site.

Looks to me like that base concentrates the load, rather than distribute the weight evenly.

look at all the beautiful buildings NYC has destroyed for bigger, better, more modern in the last 150 years or so. For me it's sad but the dollar makes all the decisions.

Absolutely a beautiful building. My disappointment is that the renderings continually showed it in a golden tone, which I don't see in the actual/finished product. Very disappointing.

Every major project today is branded as “sustainable”. People are dumb so branding is all they usually have to do. Then the idiots will argue with you about how wonderfully sustainable it is. At the rate that NYC is imploding my best guess is it will be a near empty building even after a year of being completed.. One only has to look at how fast hedge funds are leaving.. how many retail shops and restaurants are closing and leaving.. And most importantly what commercial realestate of this type are sitting vacant. 3 billion to build an ediface to hubris

Love you. Why are cars still built as if the motor is still in the front except with a flat plate instead of the radiator? Maybe Canoe had a better shape.

I like to see beautiful architecture - and this one IS beautiful - but why are buildings this tall still needed in a city where many employees prefer to work remotely and many others are fleeing the high cost of living and general lawlessness (thanks to Alvin Bragg and L. James) at all levels? I am one of those who got out, and regret I didn’t do it sooner!

It does not have air conditioning. But, the windows open about 4 inches. Plus, every other office space has floor fans installed. That's how they make it "Eco concious. I think.

No AC in humid AF New York? I don’t believe it. AC is a given to any new building east of the Mississippi. Once we of earth learn to safely harness our stars power cheaply, clean energy will be ubiquitous.

How could you do an entire video without mentioning the lighted top sections? What do they house? Dampeners? HVAC? Water? Anything but lighting? What is the lighting--does it change? Is it a venue for lighting designers since it has major skyline visibility? Is the building mixed use residential as well as offices?

The UC building it replaced was a classic. No question people were bribed to allow for this travesty. The new building itself is gorgeous.. just wish it did not have to be built in place of a classic of mid-century modern example.

The video shows how the union carbide building had to knock down its predecessor, and that one the predecessor before it. Should we just have left it as a 16th century hut or teepee? Maybe put back all the out houses that preceded your pre-war buildings

Actually, this differs somewhat bc John Hancock has X-shaped braces on the exterior (which is much stronger)

No matter how many new technologies or "green" methods you use, demolishing a huge building still in good shape, just to replace it by a bigger one is far from being sustainable.

for some history: Union Carbide also caused issues in India that lead to the BHOPAL chemical accident where they neglected maintenance.. over 500,000 people exposed to toxic MIC gases and Union Carbide evaded accountability for well over 30 years
