Imagine this 7.2 liter flat 16 with twin 14/71 Blowers. From 880 horsepower to well over 2200. I believe the 917 chassis and frame with this twin blown flat 16 could set a new all time fastest lap record at Le-Mons. The flat 12 Porsche 917 broke the 200 MPH mark with a 214 MPH lap. A record that remained unbroken for years.

Great narration mate- so tired of AI style monologues that sound so scripted. I got a chance to see several of these incredible cars at Rennsport 7 this year- absolutely amazing! Towards the end of WWII Porsche was commissioned to build a 16 cyl. the SGA sla 16 to replace the Maybach HL 230 in the King Tiger tanks however the whole program was captured by the russians. I wonder if the CanAm design knowledge had been passed down through various engineering teams for several decades leading up to it?

Not to take away from the Porsche power plant, but 800hp+ NA engines aren't really that rare, and the Porsche engine is by no means the most powerful example. Zakspeed ran their Viper GTS-Rs at the Nurburgring without air restrictors; the 488ci/8.0L engines produced well over 800hp unrestricted. Various sanctioning bodies in the US, such as NASCAR and SCCA Trans AM, all run ~358ci small block engines that are capable of 900-1000hp, despite the fact nearly all of them run without fuel injection. The most powerful NA automotive engine I am aware of is one that Sonny Leonard builds and sells; a 1000ci NA engine that makes 2,100hp.
