Unreal Swiss Train Through Alps! 🇨🇭 Zurich to St Moritz, Switzerland (Glacier Express Route)
Come with us as we travel to stunning St. Moritz in Switzerland, from London via Zurich! The weather was certainly on our side as we did the most beautiful train journey ever!
It was an early start to the day to catch our flight from London Heathrow to Zurich. From here we had to catch a train but fortunately had a few minutes to head out into the sun and enjoy sitting by the lake. We then headed back into the station where we picked up some lunch and found the train to Chur.
This first leg of the journey was gorgeous as we left Zurich and travelled along the sides of mountain-flanked lakes. In Chur, we had six minutes to transfer to our next train to St. Moritz, which follows the same route as the Glacier Express (we booked onto the local train which meant we had smaller windows but it was far cheaper!). We joined the UNESCO World Heritage section of the track and were stunned as we saw the length of valleys as we crossed on viaducts. The train also had a speaker system which gave us information on the route and the features we could see.
In St. Moritz, Hannah's Nonna and Grandpa were waiting for us on the platform and we had a lovely afternoon walking to the lake and round some of town. Nonna gave us some delicious cake and a wonderful spread and then we got a reasonably early night before our planned day of hiking. See you in the next vlog for the most beautiful views!

Dudeeee... what a train ride!! I looked into this back in 2015 & it never happened. I didn't realise the train ride is such an adventure by itself.

Wow! I was really impressed by the color of that water smack down in the middle of Zurich! I'm used to seeing more radioactive stuff in cities. Cool that Han has family there! That train ride looked hella peaceful. Come at me, Switzerland series! :-))

This was super helpful, thank you! Do you think 8 min would be enough to transfer between trains in Chur if platforms are not next to each other? I think we need to go through the underground walkway from Track 2 to Track 6..

Thanks for the reply, we are traveling through Europe, doing Paris, Nice, Florence, Rome, St mortiz, Vienna and Berlin...over 3 weeks...whistle stop tour. We are staying in St Moritz for two night and hope to spend a few hours in Zurich before the night train to Vienna. Your video was helpful. Good yo see other people doing it, takes some of the guess work out.

@@blueroomstudiosbury What a fab experience for you and the kids! Not sure what you're planning on doing but there's some brill things to do outside of St Moritz if you fancy it - can drive or get a cab to some brilliant hikes, there's a waterfalls and a flat glacier walk with the incredible Alp-Schaukaserei Morteratsch (amazing cheeses in a perfect location), or you could get the train a stop or two and walk along the river too. Of course if you just fancy staying in St Moritz there's plenty to do too with the gorgeous lake to walk around, everything in this video and more!

Thanks! I can't remember exactly how much it cost but I think if you book a train that starts in Germany (Singen) it might work out cheaper! I think we paid around €150 for two 😊
