    One word of caution. As someone currently trying to work in Unreal Engine 5 as an animation tool as opposed to a gaming engine, the amount of information you can find to problem solve things is so limiting that every day I think to myself that I should ditch it and just focus on Blender alone. In Blender you'll always be able to find your answer, in Unreal Engine? Good luck, because all the experts in Unreal Engine, are experts at it from the video game side, NOT the sequencer side. And trust me, there is definitely a difference. I've hired two tutors who specialize in Unreal Engine, and sat there after spending $50 an hour to discover that they have no clue how to do the stuff for the sequencer. I'm learning how to get through it all, but man when I was learning Blender it was easier to figure out what I needed. Only reason I stick around is because of how beautiful the worlds you can create are with all the assets they provide lol wish they'd update their documentation.

    Okay, but is it smarter to do all animation in Blender and setup scene and then import it to render in real-time in UE 5? As far as i know, there's no limitation to rig's, unless you want to use some UE specific stuff. Sadly eevee can't render in real-time thing's like good shadows without it looking like a dud and wasting 15-20 seconds on every frame, which looks playing around with Cycles as a better solution, especially knowing that difference in quality is not even comparable.

    @@saaaaaaaaadasda I think a fully set up scene in Blender can't be imported into unreal engine in any straight forward and simple way. Only imagine you use modifiers, animation nodes, blender specific material setups and so on and on... I think there is no realistic way to use Unreal engine only as a renderer for Blender. I think the scene would need to be build primarely in Unreal Engine. You can animate Charakters in Blender, but then I think you need to export them to seperately and put everything together with landscape and so on in Unreal. Of course landscape could be build in blender, too and exported, but here Unreal has more strngthes actually. Or just think of Motition Design stuff with animated booleans or any other modifiers and animation nodes - no change to get all of this to UE intact only for rendering. At least this is my opnion und impression, I use Blender for 7 years, but only learning Unreal now. I would recommend this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e4V3sKxyfNPeXdY.html

    I totally agree for now - I still mess around 2 days to get the timeline and animation working and fidn a workflow for Blender export and Unreal Engine Animation. Yes it is posssible, but so far it does not feel as specially made for animation Artist not interested in interactive games. But I think a more streamlined Layout for Animation and even Adobe Software Support/Integrations is coming this year to UE 5.

The share fact that render times are removed you can iterate and change things much quicker and with the lack of worry about poly count u can create truly stunning scenes. Efficiency overall more than doubles. Can also higher someone to make particle effect just the way u want them if u lack experience(yes, this is a petty jab at him saying well u can hire for blender).

    Bro thanks, unreal engine is extremely superior when it comes to real Time rendering and moreover it hardly crash, it saves your work automatically after like 30 secs, it has a view port which is easier to navigate and control.... But only one problem. community support is not enough for unreal engine. U get stuck that is it, u are done. U have to research on your own for weeks to come over the problem while in blender there are millions of tutorials.

  • @christopherpoet458

    @christopherpoet458

    3 жыл бұрын

    I honestly feel like you a missing something if you are going to sit there and say UE does not have many tutorials. Maybe you just are not using the right keywords? I am not sure, but I still disagree. 1. The community for UE is amazing. There are several highly populated Discord Channels all centered on UE and developing games and animations. DevSquad is one of the biggest developers I know on YT who has a massively strong following and a very supportive and helpful staff. Their YT channel does leave some to be desired in the completion of a "tutorial", but I boil it down to the fact that YT isn't going to pay all of Virtis's bills, and as many followers, he is a game developer and has projects that take time and commitment. In comparison, there are many other YT channels I have visited that either drop tutorials with no explanation, are not specific enough, or don't really categorize their tutorials to a particular genre but instead cover general topics. That said, despite any shortcomings, there may be there, there is a paratha of tutorials to work from. 2. Something I personally appreciate about the UE community too is that no one is going to hold your hand and spoon feed you though the learning process either. There is a tool or reference for just about anything you want to do with UE and people are willing to share. However, as the goal is to also teach and train people to improve and develop their skills, they also encourage and promote self-learning, researching, and well, trial and error. All three are vital aspects of the development process and learning how to use UE. 3. If you really are stuck and can't get through something, the UE Marketplace by Epic supports a massive amount of content ranging from textures to full games. Need an inventory system? Buy a functional one from the Marketplace and all you may have to do is update it to the latest version of UE if the creator has not already. Need models or textures? All are welcome and available. Need a crafting or resource system? Again, the marketplace. Shall I continue the list? 4. The biggest highlight I have here is how open, supportive, and helpful Epic is outside of just the community. Games you develop in UE can be used commercially with no cost to you until your sales breach $3k (Note, sale must be 3001+ per quarter. If you are at 3000 even, there is still no royalty fee. Royalty fee is 5%). There is no fee for films or any content that is made that is not interactive. It supports all platforms of gaming, not just PC. There are advanced licensing options if you need them and a customizable one that can be negotiated with Epic to suit your needs and their requirements. All things considered, Epic has been MASSIVELY generous with UE, their support for UE, and their support of the community. They drop free content on the UE marketplace every month, and some of those assets when not on sale are worth hundreds. Sales rotate often too and they are very supportive (from what I have seen) to the community that uploads products to the Marketplace. 5. Speaking of the marketplace, you can use anything you buy commercially in your projects. Another very generous decision on the part of Epic. Honestly, at this point, do I even need to continue this post? In all honestly, I probably stretched this WAY farther than I needed but the point I am trying to make here is that while at times it may be hard to find guides or tutorials, the community is very helpful in helping you fill in those blanks and if there is no guide, there is plenty of material for you to sit down, read, and learn how to make something on your own without being utterly blind. In any case, you are fully entitled to your optioning and I hope none of this came off as aggressive. This is my counter-argument though. Let me know what your thoughts are on my post here if you like. And honestly mate, if you need help with something on UE, ask. I can easily hook you up with several discord channels, a few other resources, and several good KZreadrs for guides. And beyond that, if you are willing to spend the extra dime, you can also get help from SkillShare.

However, i have dabbled into game development and committed a project for this year and all I wanted to clarify in that post is that it is not as unsupported as it may appear. I am not going to sit here and tell you you must use UE, but I will say that if you are ever willing to give it a second chance, reach out to me and I will give you what I have in terms of reference material to help you get going. You mentioned before you had little knowledge in coding and I can sit here and say all I have ever done with coding is 3 months of my learning Java and that is it. You don't "need" to be a coder to get around UE. Just need some patience and a willingness to learn the engine. I only posted all that because it felt a little unfair to say UE was unsupported when the community and the resources provided by said community are so vast. I found all that up there in my first two weeks browsing the internet. But hay, that is just an opinion really. So, good luck to you regardless of what you use. Maybe Blender + UE (especially with face motion link with iPhone, this is... wow!). In fact I don't search best ended quality, with very few action fx... i look for creating environment (mountains, huge cities...) + easy motion (face as body) ; if someone knows wich one is most PRODUCTIVE i'm taker, thanks. People. You gotta think three-dimensional. You create the assets in Blender, rig/skin/animate them if necessary, and then import them into UE5. What I like about UE4 and soon UE5 is that it handles the rendering and preview. It makes it so much easier to see the final product and adjust within that preview to gather your shots or polish what you have made so far. It also has a much easier workflow to design and create environments. Coupled with real time rendering, you can perfectly craft your settings and shots. You can get the lighting just how you want it. Add particles where you need them. Adjust assets in the scene. Add props without fear of crashing the program or overwhelming your memory and CPU. You're not stuck swapping between proxy and rendering previews. AND it can all be done on a consumer gaming GPU. Blender's renderers are getting better at using more available gaming GPUs every day, but you can't beat a game engine designed to utilize them from the getgo.

    I would say it depends. If you are using motion capture instead of hand animation, Unreal Engine has a much easier and faster pipeline to make that happen than does Blender. Reality is though, no single program is used when 'making an animated film'. While you can certainly render, and possibly even animate and texture within UE, UE still lacks any real modeling capabilities, and basically has little useable editing features.

    What's this video? It is totally missing the point. It is comparing apples with oranges. Blender is a classical 3d design software. Which means you can model things and render them, by now you can also rig and animate them. UE5 is a Game Engine, which is used for real time rendering (mostly for video games). So you use blender to design all your models, rigging and animating them. Then if you want something dynamic in realtime you use UE5 and import your assets from blender. If you want a movie you render it with Blender. Obviously there are use cases in which you might want to do a movie in UE5 in a small operation because it is faster in production. But if you have a big project and want to control every aspect of it, you would use blender as (central) part of your workflow combined with many other tools, but probably not a game engine. There are some applications where real time engines are used for producing a Hollywood movie, but they are either for preview on a virtual/motion capture set or as for the mandalorian for mostly static background in a certain distance. And be not mistaken no real time engine is anywhere near photo realism yet at least for all kind of scenes. There you have no choice but to use a classical rendering engine.
