Wow, the details amazing!

when i read the description, i totally thought the same. looks like halflife. i was super impressed by halflife alyx. just wish there were more vr titles or even non-vr titles with that polish. Probably need a 4090 to run this at 60fps when they add npc's, scripts, ect. this demo has alot going on already. it feels and looks grimy. the sounds really make it feel like a real environment. i love all of the bugs flying around and the rodents scurrying on the ground. the water splashing looked really good. someone put their heart and soul into this one.

Makes me sad that we'll never see a Dishonored 3. To sneak around a setting with these visuals and sounds...

There are some rendering bugs but it still looks awesome. I would preffer different sceneries: 1. Beautiful rustic nature with rustic old village houses 2. Fantasy with castles, tombs, vulcanos, lava, forests, magic. 3. High tech modern futuristic space scenery. 4. I miss some cancelled Unreal 1 effects like fog light, fire light. 5.I would like to see place with multiple see through portals for example one in dusk or dawn in lava world leading to evening in cold mountain snowy world, other one leading to the forest in noon, at other one to the spaceship place where spacesheep is in space nebula. It would be great to have different worlds within one level with one knot/node world habing see through portals in proximity each leading to different worlds with completely different settings and time of the day from each other. One could have 3 suns, other one could be revolving around huge planet on the moon of that planet, other one could be in deep space, another one in lava world with dense dark violet or blue or red clouds like in quake 1 and dark castles and lava, another one winter world at night with snow world and another one beautiful noon in the rustic forest with ooolllld vilagr, another one on modern spaceship, and anotherone underwater base and another one on Mars or Venus. It would be great to have multiple settings in one level with see through portals where you can look from one world to portals leading to other worlds and jump between them.

He's got a 4090, but it's not required to get good performance in this tech demo. This one is rather pretty optimised compared to most tech demos. If you drop the settings one notch to high preset you can gain a large boost in fps. On epic it doesn't get the greatest fps on any gpu at 1440 or 4k, even a 4090. This demo is at native with no frame gen or upscale that is why. A 4080 at 1440 epic gets like 70ish fps avg, can get a little more or less in some parts.. Drop it to high 1440 you gain like 30 fps on a 4080. Jrminate ran this with a 6900xt oc 1440p high and got 110-130fps avg.

It looks good. I wonder if AI will be added to Unreal Editor to populate detailed environments like this (if it isn't already). The objects would be classified by type and there would be rules for how they would be used.

The graphics are even better than the Gollum game!!!!

Its only Tech Demos, the developers will not deliver us this very soon... They need to love what they do, not love money....

I hope I live long enough to see a game like this running 60fps.

You will. Give it a couple of years & frame gen & dlss will be rebranded & always on. Then we will see this thing be a reality.

I would much prefer to see a better audio engine for games.. I think that graphics are already at a great point. But the audio lets it all down. You can hear that all sounds are local in the recordings mic. There is no 3D space. There is just panning & volume play at the moment. I would like RTX audio. That alone would make the immersion 5000x more than what we have now. If you can fool the subconscious with audio the visuals with follow suite!

While the detail looks great, it does not run especially well. Yes I get it is a tech demo, but the problem is, if you can't get it to run smoothly, then the practical application of the upgraded engine is limited. That's how we get all of the performance problems on hardware that is supposed to support this tech. Also, the wind up rats were so bad it was distracting 😂

As someone who builds and plays in unreal engine..there's a good chance this is in game footage.

Do you believe that every month a large number of games are being made on unreal engine. What would be the success rate? 90% are just rpg and souls like, other rest are making fps.

I dont find it very realistic. It is very detailed and the textures are high quality, but the color grading doesn't convince me. Looks still like "game graphics", kinda like a Dishonored 3 meets Half Life Alyx. Not saying it is bad, just not "uncanny valley" enough.

Red engine is depreciated now, they are canning it for unreal engine 5 in their next upcoming games in the future.
