From what I've read, this Richard "Shellackhead" Cantarella was a capo and acting underboss of the Bonannno family -- one of NYC's 5 families. Apparently he was one of the first members of this particular family to cooperate with the government which culminated in a mass defection of sweeping proportions that included the family's boss, Joey Massino. The fact that Richard is no longer in the witness protection program and participating in a reality tv show is revealing of the current state of disarray of a Bonanno family still reeling in the aftermath of its implosion. That said, anyone else find it strange that the gov't allowed the senior administrative regime, guys who've been murdering since the 1970's like Massino, Vitale, Coppa, Cantarella, Lino, etc -- the guys who rebuilt the family post-Donnie Brasco -- to walk away with their freedom and wealth/properties? Seems odd that these guys get to enjoy the comforts of family and relative wealth while Vinny Basciano gets sent up the river for life imo.

Vicious murderer who became an informant to escape jail. I'm sure some of the people who he gave evidence against will come back for revenge. These Mafia bullies get what they deserve in the end.
