Idols don't attend music shows to earn they attend music shows to PROMOTE since KBS,SBS,MBC are three biggest broadcasting stations in korea . Idols main source of income is from album sales, concert, and brand deals . ( Fact that so many kpop stans don't understand this and keep saying idols should not perform and waste their time is wild to me like these music shows are the reason why your favs are getting this huge exposure )

Music Show are important resources for promoting the Group and Songs. The $36 is actually for meet the law requirement of "Minimum Salary". Many small label Group don't even have a chance to be there...the advertisement, showcase for the business, or cultural festival, university concert are the real chance for Artist to make pocket money.

Music show is more like a promotional tool rather than an actual show. Also it's not a once in a year show. So you can't expect to get paid a lot. Has it been an american show you wouldn't have been paid not a single cent. Remember half time show? All the artists perform for free

People are far too quick to react, without daring to give thought on *why* they get paid said amount. That’s *if* what the idol said was true. After all, he signed the contract willingly and idols *have* to *sign* *two* contracts in order to be an idol. Once to be a trainee and a second time to be an idol. They’ve all the time to do their due diligence either *before* even becoming a trainee or *during* the training process while they’re *in* the company. People don’t comprehend the cowardice behind leaving all your grievances to air in the public eye, with or without context, instead of stepping up and handling the situation like a responsible *adult* or accepting the contract one signed and remaining firm in it until the end. Now, to speak on *why* these idols get paid the $36 (if even true for *this* idol, never mind *if* it’s true for *all* idols) you’d have to consider what must be paid. In *every* contract for entertainment, in joining these record companies and labels, *you* have the responsibility of paying back the resources *you* use along with the services *you* use and the fees with interest No company is going to take on *millions* of dollars of debt, which is what they sacrifice up front to get an artist, without getting some payment, plus some because they need to be paid too. This is a business, not a pity party that helps out sob stories. Let’s focus on the reality and not our emotions for once. The idol/artist is almost always going to pay a fee to be on these shows. Then there’s the charge for utilizing the shows services, staff and any additional costs revolving around the performance, transportation and preparations. Then you add on the security that will be needed, as it’s not a guarantee coverage and is subject to the idols decision to have them present. Despite what the fans love to imagine, the idols are privy to security, but there is a limit and stipulations and the idol can choose whether or not to have them present. In addition, there’s the cost of airing their song on the air and the previous unmentioned fees for training outside the show to get ready and other legalities which would require lawyers and other such services as more contracts will be signed during this process. This isn’t even including the percentage, which is unknown, of what portion of money the company takes as agreed upon the contract overall, or the percentage or amount the idol *agreed* to repay the company at. They can agree on an *amount* or *percentage* which *will* *lower* the idols amount being paid to them after all services are deducted. This goes for *every* *single* *artist* in the entertainment business and is by no means synonymous with kpop. Once again, no company is going to take on *your* bills to be a star, *without* getting their money back with interest. And that’s 100% fair and fine. If there are any issues, the idol holds *all* of the responsibility in renegotiating the terms of their contract or ending said contract and paying the fee of breaking said contract instantaneously or over a set amount of time - which is *very* common. These idols signed as *adults* or with *their* *parents* and *all* the outrage and concern should be directed towards the idol and their parents. The idols aren’t oblivious to what they’re being paid and they’re not being illegally paid. These bad practices that these fans *love* to infantalize their idols being in as they play the parental figure, are rare occurrences There’s a lot of them due to the sheer number of companies out there, however, when you account for an overall amount it’s no longer as it use to be. There’s been a lot more pressure and checks and balances making it harder to do these things. These fans tend to have little interest in their own lives so they bounce on their idols life and paint problems that need “solving” to feel like the hero in the idols life and get more attention. If the idol didn’t like the contract, they could have not signed when they were given the opportunity to sign *twice* in order to be an idol. If they didn’t understand, they should have obtained a lawyer and discovered what everything meant. If they weren’t mentally there, they shouldn’t have signed and nor should their parents have signed. If they were “under pressure” to be a star, which is a sad excuse, it’s still their fault and the blame belongs 100% on them and not the company. When you become an artist you do not get paid a whole lot of money like the big names do. This isn’t new, it’s common knowledge. You’re doing a job which requires you to work less than the average to person, which requires simple basic skills of dancing and singing and is reliant on passion over something that contributes to a society’s function. The value of those in entertainment, when thinking about their contribution to society, is actually quite low and for good reason. They put on a show for entertainment, for fun, they don’t dedicate their time to assisting people in making it threw their day in a progressive manner. One could argue one needs “fun” in their lives, but there’s plenty of evidence to suggest celebrities and idols are not necessary to accomplish those things as you can easily find “fun” in community that adds more value than what an idol does singing on stage. If you go at this “controversy” without having any thought, you’ll be outraged. But if you put your thinking cap on for more than a couple of seconds you begin to realize that these idols *need* to repay the company what they owe for getting them where they’re at and providing them ongoing lessons that are far from cheap. Becoming an entertainer is *expensive* and the companies work is minor in comparison to what the *idol* can do to get them farther. If the *idol* doesn’t do the work and only complained and doesn’t dedicated their time into making things better, all the companies efforts go out the door. None of this blame the company for the idols lack of fame, when, what you’re essentially saying is, that these idols have zero talent and what makes them famous is everything the company does and not what the idol has. If the idol has value, then hone it and improve it like so many have done before. The company provides room and lodge and much more. These costs accumulate and they get repaid based on what the idol *agrees* to and if they did a poor job that’s on them. You can’t only give these idols credit and responsibility when it suits your idea of what you want the idol to be. The company can’t wait until the idol reaches enormous success because the success rate for entertainment is so low. They’d need to recoup their money as soon as possible. If any of these fans made a record label or idol company they’d have the exact mentality these companies have today, because they’d be leaking money by the millisecond and out of business before lunch even comes around. It’s so ridiculous to think these idols don’t ever have the responsibility to negotiate their contracts seemingly because the fans think they’re too good for that. Why do you fans consistently defend these idols for the right to be an adult but then take the responsibility of being an adult away because *you* don’t like the terms of *their* contract that *they* agreed to? If you don’t start giving these idols responsibility then you’ll never understand what’s actual controversy and what’s actually just an idol who made poor decisions and doesn’t like that his decisions aren’t giving him more because he didn’t do enough work. 99.9% of what these idols have complained about are their fault for not doing their due diligence, for agreeing to what they didn’t want, for rushing in, for not getting someone to look things over, for assuming too much etc. In reality, these so little these idols have actually not been at fault for, yet the fan base seems to think the idols all to blame because they’re their favourite idol and must be innocent in all manners All this talk about the fan base *needing* to do better and yet each and every time the fans buy whatever story some random person says and do no work to see if this story is deserving of outrage, never mind if it’s true. Just because you or the idol doesn’t like the outcome of the situation doesn’t mean it wasn’t the idols fault for being there. This honestly seems like the idol wants pr*test and outrage for his inability to take action and resolve the mess he’s created because he didn’t negotiate better when he signed. Sorry, but if these idols are to be “adults” and act provocative and s*ual on stage, than they can take on the adult responsibilities of reading through a contract and learning when to say “no” It’s getting beyond annoying to see people make the argument, time and time again, that these idols are adults when it suits the fans minds but are “taken advantage of” and no longer responsible adults when the outcome of the situation isn’t what the fan wants. Either your idols is strong and capable or they’re an adult infant in need of conservatorship
