There is a point where you should move on from a concept. Or at least move into a more mature version of it. Which is why I think people were so much happier when Itzy came back with “Untouchable” versus “Cake” and “Sneakers.” “Cake” and “Sneakers” are both considered to be very childish no matter really how you look at it compared to “Loco” or “In the morning.” Itzy are fine young women and not just teenagers and “Untouchable” kind of helps to show that. (I’m ignoring “Cheshire” because it’s in between “Cake” and “Sneakers.”)

Honestly, the whole melody of that line is weird and feels out of place to me. Her high note is fine but could be better. Dynamics and vibrato would have added so much. I also wish she kept the note in her chest voice.

for opinion 6-- i would love to see more collabs but the collab songs that i have heard have been so repetitive, lower quality or just boring imo- the chungha hongjoong one is only enjoyable at his rap part- also most collabs they arent even together and or never perform it live together-- i think the zico jennie song was an improvement they were playful, shot together and their voices work together

I don't know about the sheesh high not but when she sang dangerously it was too grating to enjoy the song. She's a talented vocalist no doubt but it was really hard for me to listen to her version of dangerously even my sister who was passing by said who's screaming turn down the volume.

I also think that such a thing, the cover version is adapted to highlight the strengths of the groups and stand out when interpreting it and that's why they like it, but without adapting it and present it the same as the original version, would it sound so good? I don't know, for some reason they adapt the songs to the voices of the idols at least yg does, that's why I've seen covers of songs from their groups and I stay with the original, because they're not just voices but also adding something else and the atmosphere of the audience crowding while they're performing, that's why I really like the KTL version that bp presented at coachella than the normal one, if KTL had been the nmixx song and the cover the original version, sorry, It would have stayed like another song in their discography where their beautiful voices stood out, but nothing compared to what transcended the song with the typical yg sound handled by bp, which is also the reason they like it so much among the idols themselves.

Also, BP is such a hard group to cover because of exactly what you said - there's something very specific that the members add to the songs that is hard to be replicated. The covering artist just have to make the song their own - and that's kinda rare. To give credit, Nmixx did exactly that and they did a good job to showcase their strengths and it worked for them. But if this was the original song, and BP's was the cover, the cover would have been wayyyyy more popular 😂 Even without BP's fame, the original KTL just hits in a way Nmixx's version doesn't

I disagree with the stance of cute being empowering in kpop, its very different for the women in the east (from my experience), being cute in the east is a must and it can be infantalyzing to grown women, it knocks women down a peg but also happens to be needed especially in the workplace. For example women in workplaces have to act cute to somewhat get along with people, people treat them better and kinder (ignoring the blatent infantalyzing, and weirdo behavior acting like she's incapable) while a strong confident and forward woman, can be taken as rude entitled or bossy, cute concepts can be empowering (especially in kawai fashions, cause its expression) but with the context of east asian women, it is weird, because we know it isn't authentic, these women don't choose to do this, most of them were assigned to do this, children are assigned to be cute, but also be sensible, especially in the kpop industry its just weird, and i understand the people that think its forced sometimes, idols shouldn't be pressured into being cute, just like they shouldn't be pressured into being strong/girlcrush. Its just odd to me cause, well its just weird, remember twice they had a cute concept and were popping off in korea, but when they changed concepts as they mature, people just strayed away, its borderline predatory, but it isn't illegal, its just very odd and unsettling, not mention anyone would sexualise a cute concept especially if they have younger members

Wait wait wait now I got confused how is jyp the reason skz is getting brand deals, headline festivals ect. ? The festivals choose their headliners the company just say "yes", the brands want particular members the company just say "yes", the guys make their music the company just needs to release the album.... that's the bare minimum. Literally if they leave they can be better cuz probably jyp is refusing many more good deals than they agreed to. Everything those guys get is bc their fans are hyping them a lot and ppl talk about them and this is what brands and festivals want. Look for example BTS, who, despite their peak in 2017-2019, never got a fashion ambassadorship (something pretty trendy & a help in defining idols better in the industry) bcuz Bighit never allows them to. Or BLACKPINK who usually dont perform on any music show or festivals like other kpop groups when promoting bcuz their company dont let them. Im sure SKZ gain success on their own but if JYP didn't market, allow and *fund* them, they'd be in the dust like GOT7. So give some credit🤷‍♀️
