He won 5 Champions Leagues and captained our national team to 2 World Cup semifinals and a final. Everybody agrees that he's the best.

It’s a shame that for most of Zidane’s tenure at Real Madrid, Redondo was either injured or he left the club. Watching a midfield trio of Zidane, Redondo and Makelele could’ve been what Modric-Casemiro-Kroos is today, very unlucky.

I don't like to compare players across different generations and times but such is human nature. However, he is unarguably one of the best midfielders of all time, probably safely in the top 5. I think what makes him special is his love for the game, his dedicated work ethic, his quiet leadership, knowledge of the game and being a humble footballer. He will win a World Cup one day, but I think it will be as the Croatian Head Coach. I wish that he would come to the USMNT and coach us but I think that is a far fetched dream. Let's all just watch him play and enjoy seeing him outrun 18 year olds and making passes that defy physics. But at some point time will catch up to his body, so let enjoy it while it lasts.

Regardless of people who disagree, he is at least in top 5 central midfielders alongside Didi, Xavi, Boszik and Zidane. I remember this World Cup, I warned a lot of my Canadian friends that Croatia is gonna be a threat to them, and they didn’t believe it. They thought Canada would destroy Croatia and after the game they couldn’t believe what happened. It’s a shame Rakitic and Rebic didn’t play because they could’ve done a lot more damage.

To even remotely think they were going to "destroy" Croatia, a country that is in the upper tier of football nations only shows you that they did not understand who they were playing. Croatian football players are playing in the top teams across Europe and playing at high levels. A country of less than 4 million and a country that is barely 30years old to have done what they have done in the World Cup tournaments is amazing. Canada...stick to hockey.

When the group was drawn, many Canadians on Twitter were talking about how easy of a group it would be, how they would “destroy” Croatia and Morocco, especially after the game against Belgium they were over confident. Honestly, the disparity between Croatia’s technical ability compared to those MLS-caliber Canadians is too great, 3 of the goals were scored off extremely high level combinations, when you let that happen that’s how you know you’re not in the same league. However, because after the WC many Canadian players like Buchanan, Miller, Kone, Buchanan and Johnston are gonna get moves to Europe, Canadians are fairly confident they will be a contender at the Copa America. As an Argentinian supporter, I look forward to meeting them!

It really hit me when he said - 'Liverpool midfield is ageing, it doesn't necessarily mean you can't dominate the football'. Clearly summarise the likes of Modric and Karim. Aged doesn't always mean dead weight, it could also mean 'Experience on the pitch' And that's what I love about Madrid. They never shy on moving on from their best players(they moved on from Ronaldo when they thought it's time) but they also value sustainable experience.

And to be honest in UCL Ronaldo that season had the most man of the match games that season, then how did Modric deserve player of the year in UCL? Everyone will always be using KDB to compare to Modric. Technically they’re very similar but difference between the 2 is Modric brought Croatia to the WC semis, while KDB couldn’t do much in a better Belgium squad. Modric is one of the rare players that actually improve with age.

The thing is not everyone is a true world class player. Liverpool has a decent midfield but none of them are truly world class like Modric. Same with United they didn’t have a true world class midfielder till Casemiro joined. The media today hypes up anyone as world class after a few decent games smh.

I don't think last season was Benzema's best season, last season looked like his best because he finally had partners in attack & new young players he can work with & that can assist/help him. His 20/21 is probably his best, the kind of goals he scored... a mixture of Zidane & R9, he carried RM alone.

football is orders of magnitude more difficult to play, to dictate, to dominate than is basketball, or any other sport. No other game is as competitive as football, not only the skills but also the competition to succeed. All due respect to basketball which is a great sport, but really no comparison. Liverpool midfield is old while the top guys like Luka are even older. It's both correct. The difference is that guys like Modric play with brain first, legs second while Klopp's heavy metal 'Pool midfield is legs and lungs first, brain and technique second. The wheels are just gone.

Nah... Zidane had way, way more goal contributions both as scoring and assisting to go along with his better dribbling skills.Modric is great midfielder and his "specialty" is his longetivity playing on that level but Zizu was and still is in the conversation of one the top players ever, a different level so to speak.

Besides ManU is arguably the best team in epl atm and it was a close game (In Europa League lol) with a Barca without Gavi and Pedri.. Haha Newcastle? Liverpool beat them 2-0 and Real Madrid had 5 goals before 70 mins was played and then took their foot of the pedal and just cruised it in while outplaying pool... There's no reason to talk trash about either league..
