Unlocking Next-Level Logo Animation

I take the most iconic tech logo designs of all time and animate them in 3 styles from the past. A Y2K Style from the late 90s, and retro 70s/80s analog CRT VHS style, and a 60s Psychedelic style using a strata cut stopmotion technique. while teaching my favorite motion graphics techniques. I use Procreate Dreams, After Effects, and Plastecine to bring them to life.

Somewhere around the middle of the first one I started feeling grumpy about how digital it was, when you bought out the actual TV I pumped my fist in the air, and when you broke out the freaking _plasticine_ I was all just like sickos.jpg. There's still just something so satisfying and impossible to replicate about analog media. Nicely done sir

The second one reminds me of a project I did for work. We were doing a different decade theme every month for our social media content and when I got to the 70's I went with a CRT style. But, being a neurotic perfectionist, just adding some scan lines etc wasn't enough. I remembered watching a video on Technology Connections about how those TVs actually worked. I went down the rabbit hole and built up an overlay for the video that actually mimicked how the phosphor dots displayed color. Took a week of my own extra time to make it, but worth it. Now I need to find that project file so I can try and convert it to a template.

I love your subtle tech commentary in between your motion design videos. Keep it going. I believe that as creatives, despite being eaten by the heavily homogenous industry, and the software and hardware we all use. It's important we don't all lose that ability to criticize and make commentary in our art. Especially that Motion design as a practice is so digitized, productized and corporized these days. If you'll ever create a separate KZread channel that intersects tech, design and overt industry commentary, whether in a form of a video essay or podcast. I would subscribe to it
