@@TremereTT EZ answer is no. These devices are certainly not designed for 1 user, maybe for 0 users, but in that house something will be always connected. It is impossible to downclock that kind of HW too much. 3x the power usage 24/7 is conservative estimate, this times 5 compared to basic ubiquity routers which are much more than capable.. as someone who uses/installs Ruckus gear, I can tell you, their stuff has proper RF shielding and will automatically adjust broadcast power to best optimize range and its antenna arrays means that it only needs to beam signals towards the device as it needs to, so if anything a Ruckus setup will generate less interference than an equivalent say Ubiquiti access point, which basically has no shielding. Look at the inside of a Ruckus and look at the inside of a Ubiquiti and I think you'll understand a little better. You don't need masses of power if you're clever about how you use it.

Also, it doesn't help that every indoor-wall is also build with thick aerated concrete blocks. I'm glad that i could cheaply obtain some (fairly new) Cisco Aironet AP's from my workplace after they upgraded to WiFi-6, otherwise i would have had to spend way too much money for my WiFi setup.

For anyone confused by the speed being better while standing still: the way the signal is decoded is by the AP treating the physical degradation/attenuation/reflection/etc. as a matrix solution to an equation (it's called the 'channel' factor, a literal physical description of what the signal's path is doing), it can then use that to properly read the incoming signal (basically clean signal * channel effects = received signal, received signal / channel effects = clean signal). So standing still means the channel effects don't change, so there's no need to recompute a solution due to signal loss.

I feel like it's a mixed bag. On one hand, it kind of is unfair how is has all these riches to do the things that we all have wanted to do. But on the other hand, he is an honest person and somewhat treats it as normal, in my opinion suggesting that this is how it *should* be. People should be able to just have money to spend on their hobbies and live a good life. Though, it's also possible that most of this stuff is sponsored, but in such a way that he can use his house as a business expense in some ways... maybe. I'm sure he'll do plenty more videos since he mentioned a home theater setup and lan center. I wouldn't doubt that most of the sponsorships he's gotten for his house benefit LMG significantly.

@@DarkSwordsman except money is something that is earned, and services get more expensive the better they are. Same with certain items (like PC parts) And behind those services, are people who work to provide those services. Also, yes…. Most of his videos are sponsored, mostly to help him pay for the building he uses for his employees, and also he has to pay the people that work for him, while all of the extra money comes from the people that watch the videos (along with ad revenue) plus, we don’t know if Linus made this video a “last minute thing” or has been saving up a long time for this.

His WiFi is to strong and touches their houses. They'll "hate him" because it potentially messes with their much weaker WiFi signals, and depending on how people utilize their APs in that area/how close the houses are together, it can be really frustrating. They're not going to be using his WiFi. It looks like he's in a pretty nice neighborhood though, I doubt it's a problem.
