It’s crazy cuz a lot of the analysts in the off-season said they wouldn’t make the playoffs lol. And when the chiefs won all those analysts acted like they aint say nothing

A lot of people weren't on board with Watson starting, but he reminded me of another guy people weren't high on at times; Daniel Sorenson. Sorenson always had a knack for making a big play when the Chiefs needed it the most. I mean, the 2020 Superbowl win probably doesn't happen without Sorenson. A big 4th down stop and a forced fumble on a kickoff were two plays that gave the Chiefs life that playoff game against Texas and helped take a quick 0-24 to a 14-24.

@@choiyatlam2552 He was smart in zone, but it was more of a Linebacker-Plus in coverage and a Safety-plus for physicality. He routinely stacked up offensive linemen to open a path for a teammate. Amazingly good at that, despite his size. Very smart and very strong player. Very unselfish. Just athletic enough to get on the field, but very much a tweener, who was neither fish nor fowl. I remember Dirty Dan getting roasted for giving up the inside move when he bit on an out route. When I looked at the film, again, it looked like he had the outside responsibility and played it correctly, trusting inside help that wasn't there, but maybe should've been. I kind of miss having a Swiss Army knife around of his description, but now they have better athletes who can cover and tackle, and they have them in depth.

Trey Smith is one of the best guards in the NFL. A 5 star in high school, blood clots got found in his lungs in college and as a result he fell all the way to the 6th round. Credit to our GM Brett Veach for taking a chance on him. What a great player he is!

To paraphrase from memory... "No, I'M J-Watt on THIS team, rookie!" said Justin Watson. "You gotta pay your dues!" Younger J-Watt is a welcome addition. He was tried by fire in 2022 and took his lumps, but he had the height and athleticism to defend those perfect throws to tall WRs that were a thorn in KC's side before 2022. That's why I was lukewarm about under-6-foot-McDuffie in the 1st round. "Man, you needed to get BIGGER!" But he's a great player, period, and they addressed the size issue in free agency (Reid) and the draft (Watson and Williams). They also added Bryan Cook at deep safety through the draft. It's not easy to replace Thornhill's speed in coverage, but I think Cook's a much more "instinctive" player, especially coming down against the run. Watson's smart and has the physical traits needed to be a staple for years. It's really nice to have a talented and tall back court. Watson was taken later than Williams, but it was Watson who got the playing time last year. Williams might test better against a stopwatch or a measuring tape, but Watson was significantly ahead of Williams, last year. Anyway, given my concerns about height, I was not happy seeing Charvarius Ward leave. He was their only big corner, and priceless in the red zone. But they drafted nothing but DBs later in the draft, and got a good hit on every one of them. If, as Reid has said, each pick is 50-50, even in the 1st round, Veach's success rate in 2022 was pretty unusual.
