Its so cool to see an actor get so embedded into football to the point of buying and supporting the club passionately. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.

100%, he also is echoing what I have been reading on the forums, the one automatic up/down really is a travesty, Notts County is 34 points ahead of the 3rd place club and may not go up, of course the same could be said for Wrexham, either of them not going up would be a crying shame.

Yeah, exactly - the headline is 'Deadpool buys club' - sure the majority of the money investment is from Ryan but Rob is invested so much more of his time and passion (from what I've seen). The club should be incredibly thankful to both, as should the City of Wrexham itself. Far from the greatest place I've ever visited but I was only there because of the documentary and I wonder how much more revenue tourism is bringing into Wrexham and North Wales as a whole. It's a truly special thing what they've done.
He paid enough attention to remember the interviewer's name. Take note people. What a cool guy and a great addition to the Football community.
I live in Los Angeles and was on holiday in the UK and decided to go to Wrexham so see them, talk to people about the team and what this means to them. It is hard for us in the States to understand. It is such a working class town and many have not had a chance to celebrate in this way. They are in shock to see Ryan, Rob or any celeb (something we commonly experience and have the chance to work with them in LA). Just a very cool story and Ryan and Rob are nice, approachable humans. Pulling for them!

Is it not like the Steelers back in the day. L.A. Lakers had jack Nicholson and the Raiders and Cowboys their glamour. Pittsburgh was steeltown.
@gart9680
Жыл бұрын
@@markrushton1516Difference is, Wrexham & teams in the English Leagues aren't franchises. They were formed in the Victorian era (from scratch) by and for the local working class people & these clubs (like Wrexham are doing now) had to build & work their way up the leagues (& down & occasionally go out of business). E.G. even Manchester United was formed for local railway workers. The whole culture of soccer/football in England (& elsewhere) is inherently ingrained in local working class society. I guess that's why so much rivalry & especially organised violence (back in the day) surrounded these institutions. It's just different. Teams don't leave the area they are from. I think that was tried once with a club called Wimbledon. They moved to a place called Milton Keynes. And that resulted in the local people of Wimbledon reforming their club (from scratch). Then taking the owners of (now) Milton Keynes to court at which point they won their case & any heritage Milton Keynes claimed to the old Wimbledon club had to be relinquished. That's a very rough synopsis of the situation but it is a fascinating story.
What a class guy. Remembering interviewer name also, fair play.

Not surprised though; he's done some videos/interviews with some KZreadrs like Jacksepticeye and KoreanEnglishman/Jolly, and while I know those are big channels -- especially Jack -- he's not only come across as super humble, but one of them (and I really wish I could remember which) was floored by the fact that despite being years between videos, when they saw him a second time he remembered them by name and said hello, etc.

Classy. Paying respect first and foremost.
Makes a point of complementing his opponents and the fans and community. Such a selfless, humble man. Class act 👏
I'm genuinely happy to see the success Ryan & Rob have given to Wrexham, I sometimes work just outside the ground and the noise on matchdays could rival most championships stadiums. Ive never been in there though as I'm from Chester and would be murdered immediately!
This guy is one of those owners which is actually more invested in a club in almost every aspect. Just earlier today, there was news that he has bought a property 5 miles from the stadium. Hope that the promotion happens, and we see the new stand in time for more raucous noises during game day. Also, Kudos to both teams today, they played their hearts out🎉🎉🎉
Freedom of city of Wrexham & then witnessing this epic game - not a bad day for Ryan & rob great game of football
I love the genuine happiness in his eyes for his team, as well as the respect he has for Notts County.
As a Wrexham fan, Notts County deserve huge respect for what they're doing, as Rob said. Their quality has shown through and alongside us they're leagues ahead of the rest. If Notts County do end up in the playoffs I'll be rooting for them, it's only right.
The best - and most humble - post-match interview I've ever seen. Good luck to both teams for the future!
What a bloke man class act
Giving the props to Notts is leg class. Well done
The only Canadian worth it. Too many people in the States here forget this. The fact that he did the " proper " shout-out to Notts says it all. Pure class. ✌️
Great to see how much respect this A List celeb pays to the opposition. Such a class act! Congrats Wrexham, hope your story grows huge!
They are understanding what the culture of football is, it’s certainly not franchise football. It’s a hell of a rollercoaster.
I love how he brings so much joy locally. the whole town has changed because they are such genuine owners.
Ryan is such a good owner, love that he is there supporting like an fan at almost every game is incredible. Respect to him and Rob.
Many thought his acquisition of Wrexham would be a circus and exploitation. But its lovely to see how a relative stranger to the game has been sucked in to the passion and drama that us "lifers" have had as part of our lives. He's a convert. And his recognition of Notts County showed utter respect and sporting fairness. Kudos
Guys down to earth and humble. Wrexham lucky to have him
What an amazing story. Good luck Ryan Wrexham and all from a Toon fan
I've never been a fan of Ryan Reynolds as an actor or media personality, but he has gained a lot of respect from me for what he's done at Wrexham. All club owners in English football could learn a thing or two from the example set by him and Rob Mcelhenney. Spend at an appropriate level, be present, and above all be passionate! These two guys so obviously have a genuine care for the club, for the fans and for the sport, and I love to see it. (I have no interest in Wrexham FC btw; I'm just a football fan who loves to see owners treating their club and our sport with this much respect and passion)

Perhaps Wrexham can be your second team now
Whilst many of us are focused on the battle between Arsenal and Manchester City to be top dogs of the English game, this fascinating story is bubbling along nicely in the background. The most interesting part for me is that Reynolds has the money and influence to ensure Wrexham are financially ahead of the curve every season they go up a division. Obtaining sponsorship from a social media giant like TikTok is absolutely unheard of for a club of Wrexham's size, and gives fair warning to everybody ahead of them that this guy and his people mean serious business.
Let's hope both teams get promotion. As a Liverpool fan I'll always be grateful to Wrexham for selling us Joey Jones one of my all time favourites.
Ryan one of the most humble celebrities out there (same with his wife). Big fan of him as an actor and I’d be happy if he comes back as Hal Jordan in a Green Lantern reboot! 😀
"Notts County is the real story here!" What a Canadian response.
I'm a Geordie lad, however I must admit I have become a Wrexham fan and I watch all the games if possible. Amazing story. I now support two clubs who are smashing it!!! Haway the lads.

As much as I would like to see a founding member of the Football League back where they belong (as well as Wrexham), the fact remains they finished 23rd in League 2 in 18/19 season... 3 points adrift, so they do "deserve" to be where they are. However, the National League is basically League 3 now, just look at some of the big clubs in it, Oldham, Southend, Scunthorpe, Yeovil, Barnet... most, if not all the clubs are full-time professional. The promotion places should definitely reflect that. It's possibly the toughest league in the country. Wrexham have been down there for 15 years. It took my club (FGR) twenty years to get promoted.

He is like the real life Ted Lasso, only not the manager lol. Very humble down to earth guy.
Between the two of them, I think Rob probably is the one doing more of the actual ownership management decisions while Ryan is better at being the face of ownership that talks to the media and interacts with the fans. Of course both do each role, but it does seem that Rob puts more of his focus into behind the scenes action like getting ManU to agree to play a game.
