The guys I hang with are national SQ champions as well. When Scott Buwalda hires someone to do the install/tune, you know they know what they're dying. SOUND FACTORY!
Growing up in the competitive whitewater kayaking scene, this phenomena is present at the top level of all competition. We'd spend our summers coached by the best of the best. Guys with sponsorship after sponsorship. It weeds out a lot of folks- a "comparison is the thief of joy" kind of thing. Those who hung in there, ate their pride for the mentorship opportunity.... those are the people who ascended to the upper echelon of competition. That mentality of constant improvement can be tough to grapple with, but it pays off in spades. Really interesting to see it play out in a "hobby" like SQ builds. A great life lesson!

That is the way these things go.
Ask drew how many other competitors he "won" against in his class. There were only 2 people in his class at that event and he just beat one other guy.

That is not unusual. Their just are not that many sound quality competitors at these shows.
yo! can i ask some questions? isobaric loading halves the volume needed for an enlosure, right? so does this mean if i build a 4th order bandpass, both sealed and ported chamber volume can be reduced to half? thank u in advanced 😁
