The Samson Q9U is a USB/XLR dynamic microphone built from the ground up for streaming, podcasting and content creators in general. It's comparable to the Shure SM7B at half the price and sounds absolutely stunning even running it through a USB connection. Excellent review! Only the music I thought was a little disturbing to hear the microphones.
the sm7b is pretty hyped in the mids. the Q9U actually fits your voice better! maybe it just needs a hipass filter up to 110hz but overall its a solid mic!!
How is it with background noise?
you should set your audio to +6 db.
The input volume of the q9u is really low on windows with usb although the system gain is adjusted. Is this normal? What can I expect? Does anybody know?

Even with XLR, it seems low. Was going to use EqualizerAPO to boost it by 3DB, but it seems like a recent Windows update has broken it. Have you found any solution?
The Shure SM7B still sounds better, but for $200 it’s well worth it.

Exactly! The Shure SM7B is a minimum of 400$ more than the Q9U. You need either a cloud lifter or go xlr to power it correctly. So for $200 this is an absolute beast of a microphone.

@@hammerdance I mean if you get a good interface you don't need one but at that price it doesn't matter I'm pretty sure.
This would have been a great video if you didn't edit the background music in a "Microphone testing/review" video. We want to hear the microphones, not the music.
