Thanks for making this video. Really upset the 8s performance was so poor.

Max output is a step backwards. Octane has been by far the best

I'm still impressed with the 6ah max batteries. I purchased a 12ah and while they are great in a couple things the 6ah is that perfect amount of power to weight ratio I feel.

Excellent video. The only gripe i have is that you are focusing solely on run time. Most of us on a job site are looking for power output - which is the purpose of the maxoutput line of batteries. If you were to connect the 6ah and the 8ah to the r861152 hammerdrill and you put it through extremely demanding tasks you'd see that the 21700 cells in the 8ah battery make the 8ah the best and most powerful battery ridgid has ever released.

I would test this but I don't have a newer drill and I'm not sure the older one I have would show a difference. I do have an impact but I don't really have a way to measure the difference. If you have any ideas I would be willing to make another video showing which has the best power output.

@@Nemesis099any drill will show a performance difference but the older octane tools and new brushless tools will show the biggest difference. Put a auger bit on your drill and you will hear and feel the difference

Took your suggestion and just happen to run across the Father's Day sale of a 2pk of the 4Ah Lithium fro $99.00. It's not the Max but 2 4Ah batteries for under 100 is a great deal!

You should try the home Depot hack. Look at the "buy one get one" deals and you'll see the price drop per item. Simply pick up one at location 1 then purposely don't pick up the unwanted item at location 2

Is the 8aH EXP the same as regular Max Output? I presumed no since it had 'EXP" at the end Edit: the EXP has 21700 cells. The regular max output use 18650 cells I think? The 21700 are more energy dense and thus last longer in comparison to a same mAh 18650. But long story short, the stock batteries on your tool are probably just fine especially if you get more than one

I am still fighting with Ridgid trying to get them to exchange a 24XLi battery that won't charge.I bought a combo set of power tools a little over 10 years ago with the idea of the life time warranty, I find out they won't honor that if they don't want to. Because they don't make 24v anymore they don't have to exchange it according to them, but they say I can purchase 18v that will work in my tools.

I didn't even know they made a 24v system. Just had my 18 year old hammer drill replaced under the LSA. Does the 24v system work in 18v tools?

I purchased a rigid drill and impact driver, I hate them, they shut off when you need it most. Ridged Cordless tools are off of my list, they advertise batteries for life, Home Depot no longer replaces the batteries you have to go through a bunch of bull, Ridged is just not worth hte hassle

Sorry to hear it didn't work. Can't speak to the latest tools as most of mine are almost 20 years old. But replacing the batteries was as easy a phone call last time I did it. Called said it didn't work and they sent me a new one. Granted that battery was 10 years old at the time. I can't imagine that has changed that much.

ridgid batteries are the best, out do dewalt 10 to 1. They last forever and are easily to get replaced. I have never had any issues with them, I have ridgid tools that are very old and still run perfectly.

Comment is not meant to be taken as an insult but I’m not going to skirt around! that’s literally the whole point, I just had a great service with them and wanted to point out you in fact do not get to Warranty Ridgid Tools through Home Depot. I have drilled some big holes with the R86115 (brushless hammer drill) I also own the R861152 (the new one) and that thing can drill with a 1.5” self feed bit in speed 2 for sure, maybe more With the Rotary Hammer drill, I’ve had .75” wide 18” long bits buried with it. I have fed SDS extension into solid concrete with that thing after 2 batteries. Gets hot, Drills quick. Great for the one water line or gas line I happen to be doing. The Brushless Subcompact drill driver put a 1/2” hole through some 1/4” flat bar as well. Not bad, I like how low the RPMS can be, I do some Precise screw setting occasionally and that is my go to for that. As for their replacement service now, I had problems with my router last Monday. I literally copied and pasted, from my digital notes to the internet browser on my phone, the model number and serial number into the registry portal’s warranty claim. If you registered your tool you only need to provide basic information as with any Warranty (this is not a warranty, research them yourself and figure that out Before you even buy the tool) like the receipt number and Item purchased. I managed to file everything and Box my router up and I dropped it off at Walgreens for free, all within about 15 minutes. I have all of my tool information well documented and easily accessible, it was just a matter of printing a FedEx label. Seriously, I am impressed by that. Not even 2 weeks to get back to me and The FedEx guy dropped it off on the day the roads flooded and we got hail and everything down here in Texas. They honored their agreement because I fulfilled my end of the agreement. I followed the instructions. It was Free for me and the router functions like brand new. I would have to assume you failed to warranty your battery because you failed to Research the steps you needed to take to Utilize the LSA, only because the one time I’ve used it I knew what I had to do and I did it and it worked seamlessly. I spoke to Zero people. I even got emails when my Dropoff got to South Carolina Ridgid Repair Center to enter queue for inspection. I buy Brushless for sure, I severely doubt Ridgid’s brushed line. I advise you consider A DeWalt drill if you think brushed is better. They made better brushed drills 10 years ago than anybody. I don’t know who would complain about the Brushless Ridgid though.. just somebody who thinks the hole Hawg is the only drill you need? Got to have something that can drill a 12” hole for your double wall exhaust pipe!
