Great reaction! If you want to really push that metal neural network, I suggest their song, "Tonight We Ride" -- or if you want something more chill, their cover of Stan Rogers' folk song, "Northwest Passage" is incredible.

Nice another sweet UTA reaction. Yeah you'll find their musical range is great. They're good at writing real heavy shredders but also very dramadic melodic bits. Just one of the things I think makes them stand out from other bands. I always love hearing the perspective of people who have never really listened to this kind of Metal. You highlighted some of strengths of the song quite nicely as usual, glad you liked this one. A lot of this album is told from the perspective of the Immortal. From my understanding he was summoned by the Matriarch, a sorceress, to hunt down her four sons so she can sacrifice them to become immortal herself. He questions himself morally but can't help but do the bidding of whoever summons him. At the point of Cleanse I think three of the sons get sacrificed, even though you only see one get killed, and there's one son left to hunt down. The next song on the album, The Cowards Way explains this but if you want to react to another song along the story, I'd recommend the song after that, False Walls. Banger. No music video but there's a nice fan made lyric video if you want a visualizer for the video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mYx1yZiln7CakdI.htmlsi=4peA7QLWmepfRAMf Mixing isn't the best on this album so I'd at least recommend some lyrics. And if you want a break from the story they have some good music videos from their previous album as well Time Stands Still. Tonight We Ride is another fast banger that really showcases Brittany's high range and Northwest Passage is a remake of the folk song I believe you Canadians call your "2nd National Anthem". You might just enjoy that. 😉 Regardless, no shortage of content as a reactor thats for sure. Keep slaying Jenna. 🏹🤘

Cleanse is the Matriarch telling the Immortal what she wants him to do, the next 4 songs (Cowards Way, False Walls, 10,000 Against One and Earth and Ashes) is how he collects them.

The band does like their cosplay. And they're online D&D sessions with fans, from what I've heard. In late spring, I'd heard that they were working on their next album, with Britney writing their nerdiest lyrics yet. No recent updates, though, at least not on the social media I use. Probably their greatest song is 'The Wind That Shapes the Land' from 2020's Abyss, but it doesn't have a music video. A few reactors have done the audio only track anyway. The song really sounds like the climax of their last 2 albums.

Woo UTA. Another vote for "Norwest Passage" as the next UTA reaction. "Tonight We Ride" is also great. So "Luna" is the dog and the cat's name wasn't mentioned... hrm other moons in the solar system: Europa, Titan, Ganymede, Io... or maybe star names: Sirius, Tau Ceti, Betelgeuse, Epsilon Iridani... or galaxies: Andromeda.... none of which seem like cat names except maybe Io... anyway I digress there's a Sancta Terra reaction to see!

The second album takes place only 60 years after the first. The one that awakens the Immortal in the second album is the Matriarch's grandson and the son of the guy from "Earth and Ashes." In the song "Legacy," he says to the Immortal, "As we stand in this place and you wonder who I am can't you see in my face I'm his son, his earth and ash?"

@@jebus7679 It goes from medieval fantasy to sci-fi. When the Immortal awakens the second time the very mountain has gone and they wake up in a futuristic city. I figured it was some far descendant but looking through the lyrics now I think the grandson has simply lived a very long time 🤔

@@antivanti In "Abyss," when the Immortal awakens, he finds himself alone on a massive spaceship cruising through space. In an interview done for the release of the album Brittney says that it's been 60 years, and then in the track by track breakdown video series, she says that it's been around 50 years. So not 100% clear, but either way the grandson is just a regular old dude at this point and hasn't lived an abnormally long time.

The drums in this track are just stunning. I live for that whole ending rundown. SO GOOD! You can appreciate any music if it's given a chance. Good music is good music, and as you say, developing that brain to accept new sounds with as little preconceived or prejudicial thinking is key for the new listener to a genre. Understanding that UTA does concept albums is key for them, too. A song taken out of order sometimes does not hit as good as if listened to in order. For a fun one, try "Faster Than Light." Or, for a fun and totally diff. sound their rendition of our very old, classic Canadian folk song "Northwest Passage."

This is the only one of their music videos for Apex / Abyss albums where the story of the video is actually somewhat related to the story of the song. Best way to experience these albums are beginning to end, back to back with lyrics in hand. (and a nice drink in the other) But that's not ideal for youtube reactions.

Cleanse the Bloodlines is the Matriarch ordering the Immortal to collect her sons for a blood ritual, so she can achieve immortality. I also believe this is the first song in the story that is from the Matriarch's POV.
