Unknown animal in water can anyone identify it Bristol Connecticut Excuse the shakiness of the camera. Towards the end of the video the camera is finally on the tripod. And with the fading light it was difficult to focus. Every time I tried to focus it the camera would shake. So bare with it and let me know what you think it is. I thought a turtle at 1st. Then I saw it swimming and turtles don’t swim like that. So I then assumed it was a snake and it seems to have ears. Then thought could be a muskrat that’s I’ve seen swimming around lake and rivers in the past. Or a rat. But this was fearless and a meal for a largemouth bass or the bald eagles that I was there filming. I’ve been fishing my entire life and can’t figure out what it is definitively.

Hey guy. I'm almost thinking it's an adult river Otter, except it's daytime, and they're nocturnal.....?🤔

Yeah I’ve seen everything. Been fishing and hunting since childhood and this baffled me. But now by process of elimination sort of. I’m leaning towards it’s a fisher cat. Or some kind of weasel/mink. I’ve seen northern river otters before and they don’t more around like this was. The river otters are quick and agile. Swim under water fast. This was just looking to be taken by a bald eagle or a largemouth Bass. I looked up videos of a fisher cat swimming and it’s VERY SIMILAR. look it up for yourself see what you think.

I agree it's not an otter. It's a toss-up whether it's a fisher cat or mink. Even the videos I watched aren't conclusive as to which one...

Exactly. Plus this was smaller than the big fisher cat. I was thinking a baby that didn’t know where to go. Was doin circles. On the side of the lake there’s big rip rap stones/boulders and lots of stuff lives in those cavities a pile of rocks creates. I wish it wasn’t almost dark when it happened. Messes with the focus.
