University of the South Pacific Open Day 2022. Kiribati students dance.

Every year, the University of the South Pacific at its Laucala Bay campus in Suva hosts an annual Open Day where school students from around the country with an interest in furthering their education at the university level visit the USP and are given guided tours. The highlight of the day happens around 2pm with students from various Pacific nations performing dance routines from their respective nation's traditions. Although the performances were still limited after Covid, I felt the students from Kiribati stole the show.

Do you know, that is a question that has been uppermost in my head since I first heard it? It’s a really beautiful song. I know a few Nauruans in Suva and I’ll make a point of asking them. It has such a beautiful Pacific/Polynesian/Micronesian rhythm to it. 😃😃

@@forme3h My apologies! Yes, you’re correct. It is indeed an ikrirbati song not Nauruan. I got my wires crossed! 😂 I will find out more about it soon as there are many students from Kiribati (including a students’ association) here in Suva and the song and its ensemble performance struck me as being incredibly beautiful. 😃
