First of all, thanks so much for your kind words! 🥰 We definitely dream of having millions of subscribers one day 😉 Second, UoP isn’t as free as they sound because of the final exam fee per course. That alone (with the transfer credit eval fee, app fee, etc.) means the degree will cost at least $3,600. For about $5.5k you can get a regionally accredited degree that will qualify you for just about any graduate degree you want :) Not many grad programs will accept UoP as your undergrad degree because they are only nationally accredited :(

I don’t know why people wouldn’t want to get an MBA specially if cost it’s not a problem. I have a coworker that did her MBA at UMass and when chatting she barely knows what I talk about from what I am learning. 😂 and she probably paid 5x what I paid, and I make more money than she does, at the end of the day it’s all about the value one brings to the market in terms of effectiveness not names of schools. There’s a saying I really like that I think applies here, it’s not about where you start but where you end.

There are people who think that getting a degree from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, NYU, John Hopkins, etc. will make them stand out or get better-paying jobs than others. Maybe or maybe not. I did my Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts at Excelsior University. I obtained about eighty college credits through equivalency examinations via CLEP, DSST, and Coopersmith Career Consulting which covered all four upper-level Psychology courses for my minor. Each upper-level psychology course only cost me 150 US for 3 credits. That is dirt cheap. If you know how to navigate online learning like me, you will not need a student loan debt to drag on for years, not to mention the frustration. I am about to write a book about online college degrees and how to graduate without any college debt

The U.S. Department of Education only recognizes Institutional and Programatic Accreditation. The Department of Education eliminated the distinction between National and Regional Accreditation in February 2020. Also, University of the People is pre-accredited through WASC, which is a former regional accrediting agency. A decision will be made about their accreditation status in February 2023. They are currently accredited by DEAC which is an Institutional Accreditor.

Not a horrible review for UofP. I always get kick out of how poorly national accreditation is looked upon. AP News recently had a story on the many students from [US] community colleges (which typically have regional accreditation) that couldn't transfer their credits into universities. It's all about the receiving school's policy regarding transfer credit. If you know where you want to go, find out what they will accept before you apply. National accreditation may be accepted as well as regional.

Why anyone studies at UoPeople? If you're lucky, there might be an institution in Malta like OPIT - Open Institute of Technology that recognizes a Bachelor's degree from UoPeople and enrolls you into a MSc course. I am currently working on my Masters of IT at UOPeople and I wanted to say thanks for this review. It really is spot-on. I think the reason why there are so few graduates is mainly that there are NO lectures and none of the traditional ways of learning offered by a physically attended university. Everything is online and the majority of the knowledge is shared in writing. So you have to be able to read (a lot). Likewise, there are a lot of writing intensive assignments. So reading and writing is a must. When I got my Bachelors at Sam Houston State University (Texas), I just attended college and took tests for the most part. It was easy. So, this is harder. I had a terrible experience with UoP and actually hate it. The peer assessments reminded me of high school group projects, which I shouldn't have to do if I'm paying for the class. The only positive things were the price and the fact that it was completely online. Unfortunately, my employer doesn't offer tuition reimbursement for this university. I need an accredited college that allows me to work at my own pace and location. It feels like I wasted my money, and my advisor was unhelpful. Why do I, as the student, have to assess other students when the professor should be doing it? The coursework was easy, but the other students were too slow for me. I believe that if they eliminated peer assessments and discussion boards and made it a work-at-your-own-pace university, the graduation rate would be much higher, possibly up to 90%.

You sound like a lazy student and very bitter by that. There is something we learned at UoPeople: Fixed Mindset vs Growth Mindset. Learn to take on challenges and adapt. It helps even outside college into your career. Not everything will always go your way in your career. Majority of UoPeople students have good review about the school. Personally, I did not like that peer assesment from the start. I didn't undertand why I should do it. Then I soon I realized it is a big part of UoPeople style of learning. If I didn't adapt to it, I would have struggled through the rest of the program. Then again I asked myself, why did they have it in the first place. I started engaging positively with peer assesment and I realized that I was learning things from the perspective of others adding to what I have learned. Engaging in responses also helped me solidify what I have learned into my memory. Soon enough I was the one posting promptly and responding at all the engagements I was getting. Finally it catered a big part in contributing to my grades.

I'm getting close to graduating with a Master's in Education at UoPeople. I would say it is very affordable and quality-wise it is a good choice. Peer-reviewed part is about 50-55% of the overall grade. Reflections and group project is checked by the instructor. Most instructors look at what has been given to you by other peers. I had many instances when my grades given by peers were adjusted by my instructor (for a better grade). Tasks are interesting and make you really think and connect the theory they give with your personal experience. It is extremely hard to cheat or copy-paste from somewhere - the policy for plagiarism is VERY VERY VERY strict. If you are not ready to write 2-3 papers a week, reconsider your enrollment to UoPeople. Overall, I should say I enjoy learning with them. I feel like my views on education evolve and I get interested in those narrow questions related to education which makes me a better teacher. I am also a much better writer. Hope this adds well to the information presented in the video.

I'll give them a D on the credit transferability, they gave me 36 transfer out of 96 college credits.... It's like pulling teeth trying to negotiate with them.

No school in the universe will allow you to transfer 96 credits. You need 120 to graduate. You need to study at least 50% at a particular school to obtain their degree after transferring.

Idk, I think U of People is cheapest right now. Open University in the UK is a close second. Excelsior College is also an option but only if you transfer 90 credits.

If it's not accredited by one of the big 6, it's garbage in the U.S. In the U.S., federal and national accreditation means very little. It's all about the states and regional accreditation is overwhelmingly more important. I will consider them when they get regionally accredited.

University of the People has a lot of hidden fees, and a lot of instances where you pay for an exam first, then they reimburse you. Not really viable for some poorer countries. UofPeople doesn't really accept credits very well. DegreeForum is full of people who tried with Sophia / Study with UofPeople However, NationsU does have free tuition for people not in the top 35 richest countries for a Bachelor of Religious Studies.

Well, you can get accepted by a regionally accredited university for master's, which is NYU, they are collaborating with UoPeople. also I have two friends getting rewarded a scholarship to study master's degree in Germany and UK. Personally it was a great option because I wanted to become a commissioned officer at the US Air Force and that made it possible and if I wanted to get a regionally accredited master's degree in the future I would choose the NYU hack.

This University does not have any point of contact, do not apply because there are no staff, no employees, no one to help you in any way ruins, concerns or otherwise. Furthermore, all names are Indian (east indian) and that's enough for me to pass on it and I'll be happy to pay tuition for a scholarship who actually have staff and faculty to answer student questions and concerns.

Why would you lie online that no stuff, no employees etc. I have never raised any concern and it was an unattended to, I guess some of you are naturally lazy to write up emails to your advisors, instructors and the students services etc. I email my advisor every week and he responds, actually sometimes even his supervisor responds to me. Additionally this is my last year and I haven't had any issues with anything or anyone.
