quick summarization which may be useful to some of you 1. Have a positive mindset 2. read ahead, try to learn the material before lecture 3. understand whats being taught rather then just copying it 4. practise questions you've seen the solution to again without looking at the solutions to see if you can recall them in an exam like environment 5. go to office hours 6. study with people who have similar goals to you 7. use online free lectures, these often explain the material in a different way from what might have been taught in your lecture which can help you understand

Practicing questions, proving the formulae and understanding the definitions definitely helps in the long run but I found that it can be time consuming to rewrite or copy notes as the number of modules increases yearly so I am definitely looking for a different approach towards writing similar number of pages compared to what my lecture notes show me. The youtube videos, websites for specific units or even lecture notes from other Universities can be really helpful too!

Very nice comment about re-trying a question that you couldn't do before and that you already saw the solution of - it would probably really help when having tp regurgitate a method quickly during exam!

I've just finished my 2nd year, I found on moodle that the 3rd year content is still uploaded (I just searched the module code) and literally saved everything I'll be doing next year including lectures, worksheets and solutions, that gives me 5 months advanced to prepare

I’m also a math student, these are exactly the tips that I conclude during my math studying. Office hour is really important, but I also didn’t got to any office hour for the first year lol. Luckily that I realized its importance in the second year. But for my algebra class this year it neither has typed lectures notes nor lecture recording which is so bad!!

I use Hitfilm Express 4 which is a *FREE LITE* version, whereas Hitfilm Pro is a paid version (cheaper than Adobe Premier). Hitfilm Express is *free* and *plentiful* for your video editing needs. See tutorials in KZread. Hitfilm Pro is for professional filmmakers who want more features like VFX, many you won’t need. fxhome.com/hitfilm-express *EASIER* than Hitfilm is Screencast-o-matic. I love this one for recording works on monitor and video editing. It is inexpensive. I love this more than OBS (free screencasting software). screencast-o-matic.com If you want overlays of funky fonts for video clips, get a free open source software Inkscape. Export files to format png (with transparent backgrounds). Drop that inside your Screencast-o-matic or Hitfilm Express. For Inkscape tutorials, see those by Derek Banas.

University is hard, everyone's grades look like that at first so don't let it get you down! You have to persevere with it, and maybe ask to see your marked test or get feedback so you don't lose marks for the same reason next time :)

As you reach 2nd or 3rd year during this time where online studying is a major thing, a laptop is integral to your learning. Especially if you want to download the specialist softwares to work on instead of using a browser, remote desktop, vpn.

A good tip most people don’t do is stay up to date with the work. I used to miss every lecture in the semester and learn everything a week before the exams. Learning and cramming everything last minute is completely doable. I’ve done this for my first 2 years. But staying up to date allows you to get practice which really makes the exam soo much easier.
