Universalism and The Old Testament

Universalism and The Old Testament
Is Christian Universalism compatible with the Old Testament? This video explores three reasons for believing the answer is “yes!”
Exploring the mystery of God’s desire to reach all people, his never-ending love for all people, and his promise that all people will swear allegiance to him.
Considering objections associated with the exclusivity of God’s love and with the wrath he inflicts upon his enemies.

A good compilation of passages which sketch a full picture of judgement and ultimate restoration.

Amen!!! Thank you so much for this look at the OT for compatibility with Christian Universalism. I’ve been telling friends that these same passages show how wide God’s salvation is and that it’s been evident from the beginning of his Word. There is no “vengeful God of the OT” vs. “loving God of the NT.” He is the same: he saves us from our sin, destroying all in us that is not of him, and brings us into full harmony and relationship with him. And this includes ALL people. Praise Him! Now I have this video to share with people-thank you!

I'm am thankful to you for being willing to help us look at scripture with the help of the inner scrutiny of The Holy Spirt and laying out these Old Testament scriptures, that I dare say can be very perplexing, alongside the Old Testament scriptures that are healing and speak of the love, mercy, faithfulness, tenderness, and kindness of our Eternal Father. I wrestle with all of these concepts nearly continually. To myself, my internal and external waywardness is not in question. Thanks be to God that He himself is revealing his "Goodness" unto the least of these (namely me). I could not even have fathomed such a thing as this at one time! Humility must reign in all such matters. To be undone and put back together again is a true gift of His Paternal nature towards all of His children.....

Thank you for this AMAZING video man. I really like that you mentioned Psalm 145, it became one of my favourites when I found out about it, starting from verse 8 becomes even more beautiful. Also a huge thanks for introducing me to the argument of the restoration of the nations like Moab, Egypt, Elam and Ammon. I didn't know about all the passages where God promises to restore their fortunes and I always loved that argument because I was aware of the same promise for Sodom and "her daughters" in Ezekiel 16:53-55 God bless you brother, love your work.

Thanks for bringing up the reference the restoration of Sodom - another great example of a people destroyed (even with “eternal fire,” Jude 1:7) and yet destined to be restored.

Another fantastic Video! One small note not sure if you can change anything at this point, the Psalm 6 verse I looked up but looks like it's Psalm 65.

Hey there! In one of your videos you said you’d make a video about human agency. I don’t see it anywhere. Am I just missing it? Love your vids dude ❤️

Thanks a bunch! So, I touched on agency in the series “Worldview and Agency.” Specifically the last five videos in that series address this from a few different angles/ perspectives. I don’t get into the weeds in an attempt to refute determinism though. I just discuss some big picture observations about the elements of agency that we all experience all the time. Thanks again for the comment!

Just came across your channel. I would love to believe in universalism. Who wouldn't? But I just can't reconcile the biblical texts as easily as you seem to do. I think the overarching assumption by most universalists is that God's love must win out in the end, and they all have a clear idea of what that should look like. Too much speculation for me. Too much philosophizing, and too little honest biblical exegesis. For all the good things in Robin Parry's book, for instance, this is his glaring flaw. Question: Why must all people be saved? What if God, being God, is able to reconcile within himself that some may never love him? What if God, being God, is willing to live with the pain of losing some to unbelief and unrepentance? Does that diminish his love, sovereignty, or any other aspect of his essence or character in any way?

Jesus taught REINCARNATION.....this is easily proven with scripture. The Bible teaches reincarnation......as all ancient peoples understood it. Reincarnation is still taught in Orthodox Judaism to this day . Reincarnation was taught as doctrine by the first true "church" until the false Roman Church (antichrist) outlawed the teaching at the Second Council of Constantinople in 553 AD .

Where is that in scripture? Paul actually says in Hebrews that it's the fate of every man to die once. Seems to debunk the idea.

@@hermanessences .....Yes, every "soul" dies once. ( Ezekiel 18:4 ) Every incarnation of the spirit that we really are in this flesh, is a different "soul" or "person" (personality) . That "person" (soul) dies once and is never again. But the "spirit" that we really are can never die......it returns to God who gave it. ( Ecclesiastes 12:7 ) The "judgment" is the determination for our lot in the next lifetime . "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows that shall he also reap " ( Galatians 6:7 ) And either in this life or the next . " Who sinned, this man or his parents that he should be BORN blind ? " ( John 9:2 ) "God is Spirit" ( John 4:24 )......and God is the "Father of spirits" . ( Hebrews 12:9 ) "spirit" means "consciousness" or "mind"........this is what "God" is. And we are His "children" here.....or baby "spirits" learning how to "walk" (LIVE) . "Behold, all these things God does to a man, twice, even three times, to bring back his soul from the pit (grave) that he may be enlightened with the light of life." ( Job 33:29-30 )
