    I'm a Army Infantry veteran from 81-85. I see a lot has changed since I was on active duty. 🇺🇸 👍

    Is there any piece of equipment or tech that makes you say “I wish I had that?” Or “that looks way harder to use/carry then what I had”

    Yes, there are several items. The M-4 instead of the M-16, the new grenade launcher that is currently issued and the new night optics, l believe its called the MPVS-14 instead of are MPVS-5s just to new few. It's kind of like if l had asked the same question to a WWII veteran when I was in the Army. 😊

    It would be interesting to see a full price breakdown of each soldier, that's a pricey load out! Good thing soldiers know how to take care of their equipment. With proper care their children might be using some of the same gear.

    As an ex infantryman I can tell you that the only pieces of equipment that I took care of was my rifle and night vision goggles. Those were the only pieces of gear that were expected to make it back.

    Serious question. How far can a US soldier personalize their combat loadout before Ft. Leavenworth is mentioned?

    Other than squad leader how do they pick what your gonna be? Like automatic rifleman for example is he randomly picked or does he have that position for a specific reason?

    I’ve heard that (in certain parts of the military) people have a list of dream jobs that they make and the Army does their best to fill that out. Some people show excellence in boot camp or in service and are selected for additional training for more weapons systems (I imagine). I don’t know if it works this way, but I imagine it could.

    Very interesting. So the vest and helmet can stop rifle rounds?

  • @johnjohnson7271

    @johnjohnson7271

    4 жыл бұрын

    The plate carrier has class 4 ceramic plates, whitch can stop 7.62mm. The helmets *can* stop indirect hits depending on the velocity, angle, type of round, ect. But a direct hit or a hit at close range will definitely do damage. Modern helmets could be bullet proof but they'd weigh too much. Current helmets are a good medium between protection and not causing neck problems.

    Yeah, but today's military cries and whines about being deployed within the United States along the south west border with Mexico fighting transnational crime and illegal immigration,, being deployed to squash civil disturbances at home protecting this country from enemies forgein and domestic. Instead the military is deployed abroad in wars we have no business being in playing to the whims of major banking institutions and oil companies. Most of today's infantry squad is undisciplined, strung out on illicit narcotics, and not combat capable.
