I got my first interview with UN. A G4 level position assisting refugees at the airport entering the USA. This year, in Feb 2023, I randomly found a job posting for UN IOM on LinkedIn. I've never heard of this organization but I matched the job 100%. I've been working for airlines so I felt I can assist refugees passing through immigration and onto connecting flights or hotels. I had no expectations. I wrote a detailed cover letter explaining how I've already been doing the same job. I even work at the same airport they're hiring for. I made sure to highlight language skills. Show that I've worked in many languages and particularly, the UN official languages. I'm an external candidate with no connections to the UN. This is how I got my first UN interview on April 11, 2023.
