I played the Dawn of War game back in the mid 2000's. One of the expansions added the Imperial Guard. This was the ultimate unit for them. The commander said, "Eleven barrels of hell waiting to be unleashed." as soon it was completed.

@@CadianSergeantSteel The second expansion added Tau and Necrons. I think it was the one that had a CSM leader in a bizarre accent that sounded Scottish who said, "Sphess Mehreens in metal boxes." during a cutscene.

Building one now using newest kit box. Building 5 Variants, 2 Blades and 3 Swords, only Swords left to go. Also grabbed Christmas box for 2 Dorns to cover it's flanks. So that's 1k of 3 Big Tanks to go with 1k of 80-100 Infantry. 3 of those are Admech.

Just ordered my 3rd Baneblade model so need to decide which model to make, I've got the Baneblade and Stormlord so decision decisions only 2 more Leman Russes to get to make the 10 I always wanted, love playing Imperial guard/Astra Militarum. 😂

You don’t EVER want to put this in strategic reserve. The model is wider than 6 inches at the sponsons. That means when it comes on turn 2 it cannot fire under current rules.

  • @CadianSergeantSteel

@@CadianSergeantSteel You know GW Designers. They want to make such obscure rules easy to find. Page 4 of the Rules Commentary: "Deploying Units: When a unit is deployed, it is set up on the battlefield. If a rule specifies that a unit must be deployed wholly within a certain area (e.g. wholly within your deployment zone, or wholly within 6" of a battlefield edge), that unit must be set up wholly within that area (see Within and Wholly Within). If a model is so large that its base cannot physically be set up wholly within such an area, it must be set up so that it is touching your battlefield edge. During a turn in which such a large model is set up on the battlefield, that model’s unit cannot do any of the following: make a Normal, Advance or Fall Back move; Remain Stationary; make any attacks with ranged weapons; declare a charge. Some large models, typically Aircraft, have wings and other parts that extend significantly beyond their base. Such models can overhang a deployment zone if it is not possible to set them up otherwise, but when setting them up, their base must still be wholly within that deployment zone."

@@CadianSergeantSteel You're welcome. I came across the rule when I wanted to deploy a plastic Spartan Tank in reserve during that very brief period GW let Space Marines have them in 40K. The Spartan was like 6.5 inches at the sponson and even longer if you measured front to back.

I’d rather take a Shadowsword. The unit ability on the Baneblade is pointless because you put infantry in front of tanks to screen for it. Putting them behind is just dumb

Depends on the use case. For a melee focused opponent I 100% see where you're coming from but if you're fighting something like Tau, this could mean that once the baneblade is gone your opponent suddently has do deal with 30-40 infantry within close-combat / melta / flamer range. Not an insignificant problem

From what i can understand: D6 +2 means a potential max roll total of 38 damage (6 x 6 = 36 + 2 = 38) and just from the tank getting destroyed. Of note; this Baneblade has 13 Toughness and 24 wounds, so 38 damage would eat through that 13 Toughness and STILL inflict 25 damage, which would kill a full health Baneblade.
