Great review, I may need to get one of these! My understanding is that the enemy will not (usually) get cover when you're shooting out of this, as you're drawing LoS from any point on your models and can likely see the full enemy model from that vantage point. If you're ducked waaaay behind the defense line, it could work out they get cover, of course.

Unfortunately only Astra Militarum Infantry. But a vehicle would get the benefit of cover.

I had a game where one of my Chosen tanked 2 dark lances, and like 20 splinter rifles worth of shooting, he had one wound left. Sadly he died to an incubus in the fight phase, but my lord avenged him shortly after.

I wish 40K would again allow earth and wood fieldworks like trenches, bunkers, and gunpits. Those used to be allowed. And they are timeless defenses.

I don't like this since it encourages you to stay still in a mobility driven game. Also it giving cover to enemies makes it less usable but the enemies most likely would be able to get cover anyway with todays rules. What baffles me the most is that being behind this grants a 4++ but it doesn't get that for it self. Now it's rather easy to destroy unfortunately.

Main concern I'd have with it is that most of the faction terrain stuff seems to be going to legends. So I just don't know that it'll stick around come Codex time. It is a neat idea though!

I don’t know, home defence is important and giving what limited models left to defend it some cover isn’t always a bad idea, besides it looks sweet 😁

Mobility is important. Whatever the unit is, if it doesn't move, it's useless. As I understand it, this fortification can only be placed in the deployment zone and this thing doesn't even fire. For its cost, it's better to get something else. Everything would change if it could be placed anywhere on the map, but so far it's just a useless piece of plastic with an inflated cost in real money.

But for the cost of a cheap Leman Russ or 20 infantry, you can screen 20" of table with a super hardy unit. T12 is no joke. I swear, if this was like... 110 or possibly even 120 points, we'd see it in lists.

Although I enjoy all of the content on this channel I do agree there should at least be a case study to give the topic more credibility and not just speculation in good faith. It might not be, but it does leaves allot of room to wonder since this model has such a bad reputation. In my opinion, this model would only be good for stalling fighting phase units against stationary units like basilisk, manticore or weapons teams. It could keep them around for an extra round and you dont have to split other units to defend those units. I would say once the melee units make it over, kiss those heavy guns and missile launchers good bye But if the wall remains, thats an added obstacle for those units to double back. That wall isnt supposed to just allow infantry squads to fortify to the last round. I think thats the deceiving part about it. It looks cool, but in practice its one of the worst decisions you can make with that unit. Especially in 3 round objective games. Even if they gave that unit more abilities and made it cheaper, it would still be an extremely situational unit.

I’m in the process of finishing two ork battlwagons and they have the same issue. They dont come with a wreckin ball and they dont have enough places on the tank for the number of guns and weapons they actually get, in this edition.

The old tau skyray model was a lot better than buying a hammerhead. With the skyray you got the hammerhead guns, plus the skyray missile racks. That way you could make both. Never understood why they didn’t sell just the skyray kit and say you could make both out of it.

Great review and amazing looking paint jobs on them. I love the Dorn. It’s such a durable, intimidating and effective unit. I always try to get orders on my biggest units like Dorns and Baneblades because it feels so rubbish to miss with the biggest guns. Also, BS4+ is so susceptible to -1 to hit. Favourite load out is Oppressor, autocannon, pulveriser, triple heavy stubber and 2 multi meltas. Meltaguns feel just a little too short range and get the Dorn danger close and I love 18 shots from Stubbers from up to 18” away

I find the 0ap really hurts the Punisher. It's a lot of points for a unit that's generally going to scatter like 2 dev wounds and maybe 4-5 ap0 wounds onto a target on its turn.
