I have the JVC HR-SC1000U and it has the drawer loading mechanism like the unit in your video. It is an SVHS model that plays regular VHS and VHS-C plus the SVHS versions of both. I got it in 1990 and it still works. About a month ago I transferred 3.5 hours of material to DVD for someone and it worked fine after not being used in at least 5 years.

nice vcr never thought they made one like this . JVC pioneered the vhs format but I never seen one for c-vhs too . I guess 8mm is a totally different monster in its own .tray loading would of been way better like top loaders of the day too before they went to front loading vcrs

2:58 The 2 RCU settings were intended for video editing. You set up the player as VCR 1 and the recorder as VCR 2. Then, the wireless editing controller that JVC sold can control both machines.

It was Sony's flagship. It had the whole mechanism mounted in a motorised drawer. The cassette slides in it. Sony called it "linear skating".

I can vaguely remember seeing that deck (or a similar model) @ an upper-scale stereo store, back in the early 90s. Looked cool, but seems to me like a solution to a problem that never existed. That is, I knew people who had VHS-C camcorders & it wasn't too much trouble to use the adapters. Nice find, none-the-less. And as for finding VCR's, I was @ my local Goodwill a few hours ago & they had about a dozen.

LOL that particular LED display always appeared weak. There's a tinted piece of plastic over them that takes a lot of their brightness. We had a Zenith VCR with that same LED display (and menu system). JVC and Zenith VCRs from 1987 though 1991 were among the best in history. Those 2 brands also had the only sideways-loading VHS VCRS. And the only vertical (tower) VCRs were JVC-made Zenith machines.

Not led display, but a fluoresscent display, it has a gas sealed in the tube very simliar to a regular fluorescent light bulb. The numbers are glowing phospers. Its getting dim because the phospers are weak. These displays were in microwave oven touch panels and stereo equipment. Its made by a company called NEC. Tbey call it Nec fip. Fip stands for Fluoresscent indicator panel.

Thats pretty awesome, I'm not a fan of VHS/VHS-C, but this was still a great video. I'eve never seen a drawer load VHS machine. I did see a VHS machine one time that loaded tapes sideways. They sure made a lot of unique VHS machines. Top-loader, front loader, drawer loading, side-loading LOL

databits amstrad sold a "double decker" which had two side load decks on the front, they had a different model that went in the conventional way but still double deck "for backups" again, no stereo, linear or Hi-Fi My favourite decks are the panasonic NV-F units, I had the f70 , looked awsome. also my first intro to stereo broadcast TV. our pay TV service at the time was RF Stereo with gerrald boxes.

I remember for a while there were a lot of different combo options including 8mm, Dv or DVD burning. Never saw a combo VHS-C/ fullsize combo. I was smart, though, and went with JVC VHS-C camcorder for all home videos due to prevalence of the fullsize format. Also, chose an adapter with a thumbwheel rather than battery due to fears of the motor screwing up a priceless memory. I have two JVC S-VHS VCRs which have held up pretty well. I need to get transferring at some point. It's a shame the defacto movie format with billions of users just went away so completely. If you build it, they will come. If they stop wanting it, it will go...

drawer loading only looks cool but it's the worst way of doing the job because drawers can break very easily! the slot system Apple does in most of its computers is way better ... yes, I know it's easier to get a stuck disc out of the drawer models than it is from a slot one but the latter is more logical to use ...
