Awesome! I literally am sitting in gemcutter school with Munsteiners grandson where he just sometimes pulls out one of these crazy stones 😍 really cool that you cover the fancy cuts because it sometimes feels like no one actually knows how insanely beautiful some of these stones can get

I gasped, dropped my jaw, and had to pause for a solid minute to appreciate the celestial cities. those two pieces are literally breathtaking, probably the most fantastic gem cuts I've ever seen. I have a hard time picking which of the two I like more, they both have such distinct charm to them, I don't think I *could* choose.

Cities and other things cut into the stone are just magnificent. Also all of 'curvy' cuts, not just straight lines, but curves. These look beautiful and are so much different than geometric faceting with straight lines.

I've seen fantasy cut stones before, but those city ones were very cool. They seem like something you'd see in the 30s, like an art deco depiction of the future, or like the movie Metropolis.

Wow, I've never seen gems cut like that before, they're beautiful! My favorites are probably the Dom Pedro aquamarine at 1:51 and Dalen Hargrave's sci-fi city scape one (on the left) at 5:39. Though the yellow one at 3:23 was a close contender. ☆u☆

A technique that would pair well with this that I'm not sure has been done on gems is kintsugi/kintsukuroi (golden joinery/repair). Looked it up just now and it has been done on minerals/gems like turquoise and amethyst, but not crystal clear ones or fantasy cuts (that I can find at least)

This green beryl is also one of our favorites: www.jtv.com/product/green-beryl-120-30x15-78mm-custom-prism-bubble-and-miter-cut-167-20ct/XTG3828

I think fantasy cuts are only really good for bigger stones of like 10 carats and larger. The smaller ones look fine with just a bunch of small cuts or flat cuts in them, because in the smaller ones you would not be able to see the detail from a distance.

My favorite fantasy cuts and don't know if they are just genius or fantasy since it can be cut with standard Lapidary facet equipment and doesn't require any carving only flat facets but the illusion cube and the eye of Horus or eye of ra and Cleopatras eye are all extremely similar and using a combination of the features along the facets that are highly polished next to intentionally rough facets or scratched directional in the eye designs can make for unbearable beauty in the gem I suggest learning all three and then adapting the cut to be a combination of the three and adding different polishes and rough scratches in patterns into the design it is the more you play the more unique and beautiful they become now the illusion cube is shocking at how easy and quick it is with only nine facets or 13 standard they are able to show inclusions like no other gem using a dichroic or trichroic gemstones with a nice in inclusion near center if you position the gem very precisely you can achieve being able to see two or the three colors at the same time along with as you look at different angles it changes colors and shapes along with optical features from inclusions that you couldn't imagine every eye stone and illusion cube I have cut has sold the first day shown I make my own mokume gane to set them into playing with the design and color the metals to accent the gem and then texture and setting and overall design of necklace ring cufflinks and every aspect adds to overall quality they are without question money making cuts Cleopatras eye is cut backwards from how most cutting is done now cutting the table side first it works perfectly with the gem if you do cut the bottom of the stone first you will run into problems need to adjust facets and it is a very advanced cut however both are not technically fantasy cuts and suggest you look at the cuts so understand why I choose them when I know in fact they are just amazing unbelievable standard facet design without any combination of carving and only use traditional faceting techniques
