Vocal CHORDS! it sounds silly, but as much music as I make, this just hit me so hard in such a primal way.

The lead singer, is a bass. Are you referring to the bass singer leading the song? I hear the baritone part in the background.

Am I the only one to find a similarity between this gospel, and the melodic line of "Mercedes-Benz", by Janis Joplin ?

Wow. Thank you so much for uploading this! It was a very comfortable song to sing, for a beginner. Just the way "Laudate omnes gentes" is. Thank you!

I am pretty sure Jubilee Quartet is the name of the group singing this. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

"Jubilee quartet" is a generic description of a close-harmony African American singing style, and was used by Lomax to describe the group in his notes.

They do sound a lot like Norfolk jubilee an jazz quartet is that who you meant? It says in the description it's some prisoners who are a quartet on the farm
