Gary Gross is in my mind the 2023 SFCR A-Mod Track Champion. Because I understand what goes into running for championships, so indeed Gary has earned this championship which nothing will ever take that away!

I understand about rules. However I know this and have heard this myself in our drivers meetings. Example is weights painted white w/the car number on it. You are reminded of this and have been told some folks read the fine print in the rules. The problem is this was placed in the rules, not broadcast as a major change nor a fair warning given either during the drivers meeting or when you went across the scales after the new rule was placed in the rule book. This is what stinks, legally the car was not conforming to the rules, however unless you get a notice of a change no racer goes back and rereads the rules during the season. This is a case of someone looking for something because they don’t put in the work, but studies the rules to see if they can trip up the fellow competitors. Then the promoters family is racing and using this as a way to disqualify someone just don’t look right. Your correct this makes the sport look bad. However unless more racers take the stand like Gary and Tim did plus use your voices to highlight this kind of shenanigans it will never stop

The thing that gets me is it wasn’t for performance enhancing parts or mods, it was for a “safety rule”. So why were the vehicles ever allowed on the tracks after the rule was implemented and enforced? And given several vehicles had the same “issue” that tells me it isn’t an issue with a racer cheating, it’s an issue with the officials, promoters, rule makers…

All I can say is that Rusty did what SFCR couldn't do. Gary deserved that championship and to be stripped of it for an unknown safety tether is completely uncalled for by the track. Congratulations, Gary, for a spectacular season. 👏 What Rusty did is why I love this sport.

They “tech’d” the cars every weekend and nothing was said until the very end. That’s my problem. They say something the first week out that’s fine. It’s not performance enhancing. You get a warning week one. Then after that it’s a DQ if that’s what they wanna do. Plus there is so much pressure on the shock and spring a zip tie isn’t going to do anything.

I just don’t get how multiple vehicles pass tech inspections all year long, but the last race they get DQ’d for a safety violation from rule that was randomly added to the book. This wasn’t about any illegal performance enhancing parts/mods violations where a driver, in this case several drivers were trying to create an unfair advantage. One can say “rules are rules and it was in the rule book” all they want, but if the rule book randomly changes/adds to/modifies rules without adequate notification for all participants knowledge, that removes all the integrity of the race.

Unfortunately I have seen favoritism for a certain driver ( owner’s friend)who is racing in 3 of the 5 divisions that races at my local track I go to , always starting on the front row every heat and feature races, the cars are very suspicious, has been the track champion in all 3 divisions for the past 4 years going on 5 now, sad to say I don’t stay and watch the last 3 features because I know who’s going to win every time … in my opinion, there should not be any favoritism, the best car/driver of the night should be the winner and as the same for the champion of the season …. Congrats on the championship

You should not read those comments because those people hope you read that and want to see you pissed. If they are not subscribed and have something constructive to say. Those people I guarantee you would not just turn and say oh I didn’t know it was in the rules now…my bad. We sorry and i will have it fixed for next week so just DQ me and take my money and points championship cause its on me. Bull shit those people would cry. Look i have raced a longtime and build my car at the beginning of the year and only look at rules if their is a question. It’s not something you go over to read and check for changes in the rules a month into racing. I would ban the track and hope it hurts them. Hope they dont shut down but make them come out and publicly admit to what they did before going back.

Those saying u r crybabies obviously have no clue how rules work so let me explainit 2 the idiots out there..all tracks have rulebooks at the start of the season and most drivers who have home tracks like them r given a rulebook at the start of the season. Tracks r allowed to add or ammend rules during the season but have to notify drivers either at drivers meetings or by email which the track did not...the track is not accredited by any organization wheras many dirt tracks are accredited by the world of outlaws a national organization.if they were accredited by any organization then per the organization rules the track owners would be in clear violation and would have their accreditation suspended pending an investigation and if found guilty would pay a huge fine or lose accreditation
