Thank you for the explanation. I just came back from seeing a doctor (I'm in Mexico city). His diagnose was very similar to what you explain. In my case the atrophy is so bad even laying on bed sleeping is painful. Every inch of my body hurts from heels to head with close emphasis on lower and upper back. He touched the area today. Gosh!!! The stiffness, the hurt...!!! And I explained this burning sensation all over the back of my body. In my case I had an injury 6 months ago. It was being treated but this doctor asked me to quit all exercises. So I went from running and HIIT training to just walking. This new doc said I should have progressively go back to muscle strength activities. But I did not. I'm glad and so blessed I found this doc. Now let's see how my body takes it.

Hi Lori! Thank you so so so sooo much for this video! My mom is suffering with excruciating unexplained pain throughout her back and legs….more numbness than pain in her legs but she groups it’s all together when trying to explain it. She is 4months post liver transplant and still suffering with this pain that has evolved from a direct pressure point sort of pain to now just overall pain and soreness throughout her back and sides…she’s extremely atrophied and only gets any sort of relief when I massage and rub her frail back and legs… after watching this I’m thinking everything you mentioned is spot on with her experience and can explain what’s going on with her!! She’s been cleared of every scan, imaging, test, nerve exam, rehab assessments etc etc …she was recently approved for medical marijuana to help manage the pain but this video has made us all the more confident that it’s an issue of the fascia/connective tissue . Do you suggest then just getting active and improving her muscle tone development through weight training?? (Like I’ve been telling her for the last 10yrs?! haha) She watched this video and literally screamed for joy for the hope your video and explanation has given her. Do you ever travel to the East coast we would love to have the opportunity to meet you!!

Very enlightening video. I havent exercised in a couple of years cause I had scoliosis surgery and depression, and now I am very skinny and have very weak muscles. I recently started exercising daily and ive been noticing weird pains (usually in/around areas that I have no muscle), in the little muscles around the ribs and sternum, in the wrists/fingers, elbow/triceps etc... I was starting to get a bit anxious about it but thanks to you now I know that it may be just the connective tissue and the underuse of my muscles. Thanks so much for your video! Ill keep trying to exercise daily and gain weight. Greeting from the Canary Islands!

i’m 17 but since 14-16 i decided to be vegan + no exercise and after about 6 months i slowly started getting horrible debilitating pain every single day all over my body i was in bed 24/7 except for hospital visits, i had so so so many tests and no help, only a number for a suicide hotline everyone told me it was chronic and would last for ever so i rlly just thought my last option was death however i decided myself i’d start going on walks and eating meat again and it was genuinely so so painful and i had no idea if any of my pain would even be worth it in the end. but after finally a year of doing all this i’m pain free. i genuinely can’t believe after all that time and all the doctor visits the only thing that was wrong was muscle atrophy from poor nutrition and exercise i really really wish i found this video sooner!!!

I had scarred intercostal muscles. I did a lot of work on the scarring but it is still tight there and the muscles spasm when I over do it. Should I be focusing still on lacrosse balls and fascia? Or should I do daily heavy breathing exercises? I do find the muscles get sore after these isolation exercises but I also feel like I should use the muscles everyday to restore strength. Or sometimes I feel like It’s a waste of time to train the muscles with tight fascia on them

I suspect I have muscular atrophy pain and I googled and found your video. I had a bursitis on my right shoulder earlier this year (a little over three months ago). After taking some prednisone and saw an orthopedic doctor and a physical therapist doctor, I had to leave home to take care of my parents in another state. My therapy exercise was limiting during that time. I did try to increase my range of motion and for a while it has worked, however, a month or two later, my muscle started to ache and I thought I injured myself more. In retrospect, this could be the beginning of muscle atrophy. Anyways, when that happened, I stopped doing my range of motion exercise, and concentrated on using heat therapy and massage. I’m back to doing physiotherapy again recently. How can one diagnose this fascia issue? And what can I ask my physical therapist to do? TIA 🙏

Just had me do exercises that were a waste of time and didn't touch my pain for 12 weeks. What kind of questions would one all to be sure they're knowledgeable? @@loriduncandptmtccpt2831 unfortunately, it's not that helpful. When we, as patients, have to do massive amounts of research to even figure out what our pain is related to, and then walk into random medical professionals offices, we get treated like absolute crap because we've gone to "Dr. Google". Telling people what their pain is related to without giving them the specific information they need to walk into a medical professionals office and advocate for themselves, isn't just not helpful, it creates despair. I spent all day yesterday watching videos from fantastically educated PT's on KZread, and ended up on my floor in tears because I should not have to earn a masters degree in physical therapy from KZread to fix my pain. But I have no other option because I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY VETT A PT TO KNOW IF THEY CAN HANDLE MY ISSUES... because I don't have the first idea what, specifically, to ask them. Are there specific modalities that might ensure they are familiar with this kind of issue? If YOU were advocating for a friend out of state, calling PT's to vett they're knowledge base so that your friend wouldn't have to waste their money, or needlessly put themselves at risk during a pandemic with someone who will just waste their time and take more of their money... What questions would you ask? I can't even tell you how much money I've wasted over the last two years just to not be in pain every day, while ALSO trying to heal PTSD. I'm just over it.

@@fyrespryte Whoa. Please remember I am a PT/medical professional that actually cares about my patients. I understand you are frustrated but I'm not sure your emotions are directed at the right person. That said, look for someone who specializes in Pilates, manual therapy and the importance of muscle patterning. Ask them about the course of action they would take to help heal your pain and dysfunction. If it feels aggressive (squats, lunges, push-ups) to start then that is not a great fit. The first role of any good PT is to calm your system and pain. That last sentence I wrote is key. 😀

@@LoriDuncanPT I didn't mean to insinuated that you don't care about your patients. Clearly you care, you're here, answering questions. But you said you hoped your response was helpful, and it wasn't, so I told you why it wasn't. My frustration was in receiving a very generic answer to a specific question. You provided much more helpful info in your second comment and I appreciate that. Thank you. There are your patients, who clearly have access to a knowledgeable therapist and then there are your viewers...some of which are watching your videos in massive amounts of pain, through tears because we live in medical wastelands with terrible access to care. To be told what the issue might be, but not how to find a knowledgeable provider that could help, because we live nowhere near you, is heartbreaking and I'm sorry if that feels like an attack but it's still a perspective that perhaps you should consider for all of your viewers, not just your patients, if you want to educate on KZread.

Hello. I'm on the very same page. I just went to see a trauma orthopedic doctor. He gave me this kind of diagnosis on the video. I feel pain even at night when sleeping and laying on bed. The explanation was my muscles are weak. My prescription was exercise and special stretches to recover muscle. Please go see a doctor and explain everything. May God allow healing...

@@nantyfields3226 my issue is that exercise makes me hurt even more. whatever muscle i use or work starts to hurt even more and sometimes even lock up by the nights end or next morning. I've lost 25 lbs in the last 4 months and this is scaring me. down to 135 from 160 all muscle lost. pain throughout my entire body. they're saying it looks like an autoimmune disease, but didn't know they just start out of the blue like this. was fine one day, went home and BAM pains on outside of joints started and kept spreading til i was also having pain internally, organs, heart head etc. then muscles now even my spine. EVERYTHING HURTS! I'm eating, but not as much as i used to bcuz it seems certain foods cause more pain now. especially now in the liver/gallbladder area. 10-15 mins after i eat pain! now the last 3 days pains started in my hands and wrists and becoming harder and harder to hold things. this is sooo frustrating and scary! it's as if my body just suddenly started breaking down and cells are not repairing/replenishing. my platelet count suddenly started dropping. my body seems to have stopped absorbing nutrients. docs aren't being very helpful in trying to figure this out. I'm only able to work half days now. first bcuz of the pandemic now bcuz it's hard for me to get up early bcuz half the night i'm up in pain :((

@@tjgrafiks my heart aches for you. I was diagnosed with dysautonomia just weeks later after that post. It was terrific. But God healed me through awesome doctors, medicine, treatment and exercise. Please consider seeing a neurologist or cardiologist to discard dysautonomia. You just told me exactly what's wrong with me. Muscle atrophy and I have the same disc's at the bottom of the spine. I was already aware of Dasha so everything fit perfect. This confirms my decision to not use pain mgnt. After two doctors, including an ER doc refused to prescribe a single thing for pain. Except my family doc I don't trust all other docs across the nation. Insurance companies are telling them how they want them to control pain. The hypocritical oath is now obsolete due to a harmful policy of treating everyone the same. The ER doc never made eye contact and continued to ignore me. Sent me for x-rays. I was moved 3 x screaming so loud my lungs, chest and throat were sore 3 days later. If someone slapped a gun in my hand I would have blown my brains out right there and then. Beware ER's if you are in extreme pain. I did and they made it worse!
