Some aspects are amazing, but some certainly make you take a deep breath and sit down! I bought my Lamborghini Huracan STO from Lamborghini Pangbourne already nearly 10 months ago and it's just crazy how quickly time has flown by, as well as the odo counting up to 4,000 miles. In that time I've had a lot of fun with it, certainly put some smiles on people's faces and also had a few fingers raised, but let's go out for a run to think a little more about what it costs, and what it might cost if I were to install the supercharger from VF Engineering that I recently experienced.
As it happens, all new Lamborghini models in the UK include 4 years of servicing and warranty by default which is an incredible package and makes it a delight and stress free experience. However, in the the UK we also have particularly unfriendly insurance which for a car like this is based on statistics, and apparently the statistics of 30-something year old males driving Lambos are not good!
In fact, the insurance bill turned out to be a huge sum in the first year of the car, which thankfully has settled down after my policy renewal, but certainly made me think in the meantime. However, I also reached out for a quote to see what it would increase to if I install the supercharger, and let's just say it might be a bit of a barrier to entry with the result.

Insurance for expensive cars can be a bit up and down because repairs are expensive if they get damaged. But on the upside, a Lambo almost never gets stolen. A random person wouldnt even know how to start one even if given the key.
Love your content, you've come so far, congratulations on everything you've achieved you deserve it 10 fold!

It is interesting how a colour scheme of a car can influence how we percive its shape. When I saw STG video with grey STO I was surprised how headlights look. They had almost different shape than on Tims STO. Regarding pillow that saves everybody back, maybe it would be a good idea to have some custome foam inserts made that will attach to seats?
I like how u change the color of your, sound intro to match with the car your doing video about. Cool video as always.
Hi Tim, what an extremely informative video and much enjoyed. Cheers from Australia.
Currently wearing the sto t-shirt 🔥 amazing video. Shmee, you defo need more lambos in wild colours.

Thanks for the opening up regarding the cost of the cars. Very interested for people that don’t have the ability to own one Cheers
Tim, I really enjoy your videos. No one works harder than you in this business. Your honest perspective provides great information. I am not in car business other than I love cars. My favorite car is Lamborghini. I also love the Lamborghini management. They care about their customers and you do not have to buy an old Lambo to qualify for a new one. They treat everyone the same. Again, thank you for the all information you bring to all of us viewers. Please try to do an extended video on the new Tecnica by driving both STO and Tecnica to give us your honest opinion. Thank you

thanks for sharing the upkeep on these types of cars
WOW very interesting episode.I bought my ticket for BOTB so fingers crossed I hope I meet you Tim & Christian 🤞👍
The biggest factor I've found in my driving history has been related to the vehicle crime statistics in your postcode. I'm 2 years younger than my older brother, we were both regularly quoted around a 40% difference in premiums because of that single factor. Any chance you could have a blog on driving in Europe? Your experience and insight would make for a very interesting blog👍
Sometimes it's odd to thing you just started with a Clio. Now your collection has truly become a *collection* with so many cars, most of which are rare or exotic
It really shows how buying a car and actually maintaining it are 2 different things. My tiny 77HP Grande Punto costs me a nice holiday trip a year to maintain.

It’s so fascinating learning the difference between United States vs. Europe or that region across the pond.
That road feels tight in my E46 M3. Impressed you managed to thread the Lambo down there!
Cheers for the video mate 😎 👌
Tim, if I ever see one of your cars out and about, I’ll give a thumbs up to whoever is driving it, whether it’s you, Tom or someone else you’ve got to drive it. A Lamborghini isn’t my cup of tea, but it’ll be cool to see it in person
Really enjoyed this video Tim 👏👏👏
Tim, I don’t know if that color doesn’t represents you, but you did an extraordinary combination. When I buy my first sport/super car I’ll ask for your recommendation!!!
This is the reason why i drive a 07’ Toyota Yaris. It cost me around 30gbp per month, and im growing my bonus at the insurance company, before buying something more expensive🙌🏼
Am so glad someone spoke about this, his bloody 6x6 is cheaper than my audi s3 , with 15 years n/c and a clean licence for 10 years
this car is stsarting to get expensive. This is an eye opener. Thanks, Tim.
Great car, just love it , thank you 👍👍👍👍
Speaking of insurance. I was like you. I had to double check whether they got the figures correct prior to my history (2 accidents). They somehow managed to knock a grand from my previous year where everyone was quoting that much (a grand). This is with every mod declared on my ST3 as well. Was shocked at the figure.
Hi Tim! Could you do some more Focus RS or Senna content? Been a while since you’ve last featured either on the video. :)

Really enjoy these drives in the Lambo down narrow, twisty roads. I think it suits it very well and doesn't need any more power. It just a very revvy, angry animal haha!
I just saw Zenvo TSR-S at Weissach, Vancouver, BC, Canada 😳😍😎 and it is the coolest car I saw this year. Hi to Stan from Weissach.
How was it adding other members of the team onto the insurance? Did it affect the premium much?
Shmee have you ever considered buying something like a BAC Mono ? I would really love to see you driving one of those or a Praga R1R on the Nurgburgring
Are you able to turn insurance on and off for when it is not being driven, and added to building insurance? I was able to do that with my Typhoon.
Hey Tim I had been watching for quite a long time now. It is quite hectic and difficult job to manage a car collection like this. But you are nailing it bro hope you continue to do the same in upcoming time. CHEERSSSS

Did you drive the STO along Adriatic highway after collecting in Italy ? I missed some video & would love to see you drive that awesome road through Dalmacija. Also, with a US visit soon, will you have time to pick up the Zenvo for a similar scenic drive home through Europe? Hope so
I'm 26 now, got a few cars sitting around not like your collection mind you.. Astra H VXR Arctic Corsa D VXR Clubsport Corsa E VXR Astra H SRi XP Mk3 Leon FR Estate It's not much really but it's a fair amount to insure that lot too, I use to run about in a corsa 70bhp fun as hell and infact.. I'll say that the 70bhp 1.2 hatchback is some of the most fun you can have in a car but my astra vxr is just awwww man! The Pantomime it brings out is brilliant
Seems like a nice sunny day in UK could be a great day to drive one of the drop tops, maybe the 675LT?
God help me!! I’ll start saving now! Mine’s landing in January 2023! Hopefully my age will help as I’ve just turned 50. Thanks for the heads up Shmee!!
Love the Kentish lane test drive route.
Could you do more with the Senna, 675LT and GT8?
I'm 25 and own a bmw m140i and I pay around €120 per month so paying £10k+ per year sounds insane! My first car was a Peugeot 206 when I was 18 and had 136HP and then bought a golf 4 105HP for a few years and then a golf 7 GTI 230HP and then a m140i 340HP and the golf 7 was by far the most expensive I had
Thanks for the video, thought I was paying a lot for five cars including three Ferrari's and three motorcycles just under £3000.00.
That's all very well but can we have 4K please. 1080 in 2022 is well past it. Keep up the good work.
Wow those insurance prices are eye watering. My 12c is $1100 a year to insure with full coverage on the east coast of the USA
I got quoted 6k to insure a 5 year old 1.6l Focus back in the day. This wasn't even as a 17 year old, this was when I was learning to drive in my 30s.
I personally own 5 cars, 26 years old, i found that it’s a lot cheaper to insure each one individually and if i insure all under one policy
Don't worry Tim , when older age visits the premiums tumble. I have a few classics and new cars and the premiums are surprisingly small.
As a Brit now living in the USA, I can attest to the fact that UK insurance is just insane! In the US you can also group the insurance, so your kids cars are covered by your policy and get the benefits of your overall insurance - and they just pay me back. Finally, it means all family members are insured for all cars. So, my 18 year-old daughter (who passed her test 4 weeks ago) is insured to drive my Aston Martin Vantage, My wife’s Mercedes GLC-43 AMG, my sons WRX, Golf-GTI. And that was an extra $300.96! Can you imagine in the UK! ZERO change she would be able to get insured for any of those cars having just passed her test…
Where is your GTC4 Lusso Tim? Haven’t seen it in the Garage on videos for a while it seems! In for service?

Didn't expect a rundown cost so soon
*When you've got a car like this your pockets have to be deep for those unexpected costs and expected costs* 🤪
Here in manitoba your insurance rate goes by your merits. You get a percentage off for having more merits, it surprised me to find that your insurance rate depends on your age but it makes sense.
I pay about $200 a month on insurance for my Huracan Performante. In the US it's all about your driving record. No accidents and no speeding tickets will get you a great rate. But the second you have a crash or get a speeding ticket it can triple overnight.
On the STO the problem is very extended parts of carbon. Even a minor front or front side impact it is the all front car (in carbon) to replace. You add to this the shortage of parts, insurance companies would rather declare the car not repairable.
Now this is just funny, over here in colombia to insure a 911 992 turbo s is about 15,000 usd a year
@CarCultureColombia
Жыл бұрын
Just my personal 2015 M235i is about 1,500usd a year just for insurance
Any chance you may upgrade the STO to the Aventador successor? Or maybe a future limited version of the replacement like an SV or something?
I think you should put some decals on the STO to make the spec more race orientated
Do you pay less in insurance in the winter when you're not driving some of the more expensive cars?
Have you enquired about insurance for the Zenvo yet? how does that compare?
What about start filming in 4K Shmee.....it is 2022 after all.... Great content btv
Risk isn't just about the probability of making a claim, it's the potential cost of the claim. E.g. a bump that cracks the cofango would be a much larger cost to replace than a bumper on a 675LT... Generally.
CRIKEY! SIX GRAND! I need to sit down
Would be VERY interesting for you to make a full details expenses report of how much it costs to own all of your car in 2022 for example. Stradman did that. Scary… I mean ALL included, petrol, tires… thanks

That car is so nice looking !
The Sto must be a keeper as its your only NA V10 and they wont be around for much longer
The renew price of the insurance here in Malaysia for the huracan is around 9000 pounds. And that only for the huracan evo.
Tim, are you restricting your annual mileage on your policy at all in order to get insurance discount?
@Shmee150

Not really, we drive when we want to drive to be honest
I would expect running costs to be expensive full stop!
The insurance cost you quoted for the STO was an eye opener.. my EVO rwd was £2.5k but I live north of the border in a rural area. However I was told that it was still an impressively low quote by comparison as Huracan’s tend to command in an insurance premium of around 4k. Could be a load of rubbish of course..

I was an insurance manager for a very large global vehicle corporation.... all I will say is 'imagine if you had a small shunt and shattered the CF cofango'. That explains your premium

As an insurance agent here in the US our rates depend heavily on the ability to replace parts which you can not on the sto sadly.
@terryosborne272
Жыл бұрын
That is not how it always works here in the UK. Quit often it is more about the area you live in and how much that car is crashed by Boy racers and stuff like that.
Hi Tim ! Are there any good seat modifications for those uncomfortable Lambos on the market ? I mean a pillow is not bad, but It's crazy that you need to do things like that even with the comfort seats..
In Namibia its not really necessary to have insurance to drive a car. The car needs to be road worthy, registered, yearly car license and of course u should be legally licensed then you are able to drive. Insurance is only necessary if u want to be covered incase of an accident
i remember watching car throttle a few years ago and them calling around for insurance for some cheap crap car. and even though the dude said he was 25 with no accidents they wanted thousands of pounds. i was scared asf when i was going to get insurance for my first car (in Australia) but it ended up being under 400 pounds (equivalent) for a far more expensive car. not sure why insurance in the uk is so expensive
@CharlieboySLONDON

I payed £2800 to insure a 91 1.8 Golf GTI at 18 I almost sold the car as I only payed £2500 for it.

Жыл бұрын
Also correct me if I am wrong but in Australia you can also just get third party insurance that is alot cheaper but will only cover damage done to other vehicles in an accident and not cover your own car... alot of new drivers get that due to their first cars not being worth much anyway, but if you hit an expensive car your covered
@banana-ui2qd
Жыл бұрын
@@wrangazz yep that is true, its about 100 pounds.
I just got a motorcycle and I was originally quoted $10478 a year, I got it lowered to 2800 by taking a driving course
I pay $4500 a year for my Porsche macan turbo. I’m 26 and have a clean driving record. Bit I considered buying a Kia Stinger GT to lower my cost, but it actually cost more! Insurance in America is broken
In the USA we have insurance under our parents name because the car has to be insured no matter who is driving it!!
Oh yeah tell me about insurance in UK . When I first came into uk that was the biggest slap in the face . In 2 years I paid the value of the car in insurance . And we are talking at the time of purchase the car was 12 years old and I was 25 years old . I know how much my friends pay in countries like Germany or Italy and UK is by far the worst when it comes to insurance rules and pricing. Would be nice to compare insurance quotes for same cars in different countries I think .
Another reason the R35 GT-R is one of the best performance cars on the market. Not only does it actually carry a week of groceries, the insurance doesn't steal your groceries either.
How much is comparatively to your old R8 considering people always claim they are the same car?
