about a month ago, my dog of almost 17 years and in great health (we thought) suddenly passed. i got the news while i was at work and couldn't leave or do anything about it. plus i had just started a new job and hadn't really made any friends yet so i felt like i had no one here to turn to. when i came back from lunch the next day, there was a small box of fancy chocolates sitting on my workstation. it was completely anonymous as incredibly sweet and gave me more comfort than anyone could know.

I got a flat tire driving along a highway. My spare tire was flat :( and before I had a chance to work out what I was going to do a scruffy looking guy in a truck pulled over & without even saying anything pumped it up & changed my tire and brushed off my thank you ... He made my day and I still think about how kind he was 15 years later ! He did it from kindness....

The other day I was in London and missed the last train home. I had to get a coach instead. I made it to the coach but was scared, nervous and tired at the same time. I didn't want to fall asleep because I didn't want to miss my stop. Anyway, a man sat next to me and asked if I was okay, he started talking to me about why I had been in london. He made me so relaxed and less nervous and when the coach got to me stop he woke me up. I never caught his name but he made me so at ease. Thank you.

It was when I was in my examination hall a few weeks back and everybody including me was so worried and tensed as the exam was just about to begin, and so when i was walking towards my seat, this girl who i didn't know she gave me a wide smile and wished me good luck. I felt happy and relaxed. Thanks whoever it was.

I grew up with a single mom & she often worked 2 jobs to make sure I had everything I needed. Sometimes things were still tight but she saved $ and bought me brand new school clothes but after she paid she set the bag down and someone stole the 2bags full of clothes. After going back in the store to make sure she didn't leave it she began to cry & went back to her car. Then 1 of the workers walked up & handed her a a bag full of the same clothes. The workers all pitched in and bought the clothes

My mother and I had been going on a trip and were very overwhelmed. When we got to the flight desk it showed that our seats were not next to each other actually quite far away. So seeing that I was a little girl she gave us first class seats and guessing that my mother was a single mom and needed a break she included all the special advantages of being in first class. My mom was so grateful and we will never forgot this random act of generosity.

I was having a really crappy day a few weeks ago. I went into a 7 Eleven to pay for my petrol and the guy serving me gave me a free box of Krispy Kremes, simply because he said I looked like I needed cheering up and he wanted to see me smile. I thanked him, went and sat in my car, ate a donut, and cried because it was so kind and unexpected. I love people sometimes.

I received an anonymous letter with money in it. The letter read, "Here is a donation to help support the art you do. Keep working to make the world a better place, every little bit makes a difference." That person made me happy for weeks, and more generous myself.

I was struggling with a bag one time (could barely carry it) and a guy came up and helped me carry the bag about a mile and a half. I was taken aback by the kindness he showed me and appreciated all the more as I really needed his help. Doesn't seem like a big thing but he could have so easily just walked on by. He has helped my to be a better more genorous person since then, and I thank him for that too.

I was at island of adventure in Orlando when I was 10, and I was so hot but the park was so busy that all the queues were incredibly long. A man could see that we were just going to leave the park due to the heat and came over and gave us fast track tickets for every ride in the park. It's stayed with me forever, and actually made me give fast passes to strangers before :)

I also have a McDonalds story: I went there right before going out on the town with my ladies and I asked for an ice cream. I made some conversation with the woman at the counter and before I knew it I got the biggest icecream I had ever seen in my life. What was even more special was the huge smile she had on her face as she gave it over. She was so sweet and I definitely won't forget that moment

I was about to go through a serious examination a couple of months ago and my dad's insurance card was having problems. All around were people who seemed to be in horrible condition and I was freaking out. I move to sit down and look at this man. He gave me a smile and went up to the front desk and told the woman that he wanted to pay it forward. My exam and everything. I was going to get an MRI. I cry still thinking of it. I didn't need his money. But the offer itself, makes my heart full.

My dad is in the Navy, and we had been struggling a bit in credit debt. Once, my dad was in his uniform and we had been in a restaurant. When we got up to pay, we had found out another customer paid for it. It was an old man, who had been sitting all the way across the restaurant. That man did not know of my family, nor did he know of our debt. And I am forever grateful to that man.

My father died in May. I hadn't seen him in 8 years and had only IM'd him once, two days before he suffered a stroke in his native country. My 8yo son never met him. He rarely heard me talk about him. When I told him my father had died, he sobbed. When I asked why he was crying for a man he had never known, he said "Because he was your daddy." Empathy from my beloved child was an unexpected, and probably the best, generosity I've ever received.

While on vacation with my bf this year, on the last night al our valueble stuff got stolen, including our wallets. We had to call our banks to get money, but we didn't get enough. So we had to beg in a park for the last 4 dollars we needed, so we could get me a identification so we could travel back. Some people turned us down, but one man was kind enough to gave us a bit more to help us out. I am really grateful to this man!

same here, i don't regret any act of generosity i do but this video made me realize that i'm the one who give her spare change to homeless people and i smile at them because i know it's important to them, i pay for the next person in line, i hold door to everyone, i talk to elder on the bus, i carry their luggage, but i can't remember any act of generosity towards me. i'm a 21 yo girl, and me and my family have seen pretty hard times, maybe that's why i'm always ready to help. i'm a bit sad now.

I once was walking from the store to the bus stop and the bus while I was across the street. All my friends booked it across the road in the middle of traffic to catch the bus, but I was too scared and waited at the crosswalk. I started crying because everyone had abandoned me, and I was stuck without bus fare two miles away. Luckily a man spotted me, pulled over, and offered me a ride. He was so kind, and told me to remember pass on the favor to the next person I saw in need.

A few years ago I was getting ready to go to Romania on a mission trip. I had raised some money but was still over $1,000 short. The night before the trip began I finished packing and prayed that the money would come in. In the middle of praying my dorm room phone rang and I was told that someone had anonymously donated the rest of the money I needed - over $1,000! I left the next day and had an amazing time in Romania...and never found out who the generous person was.

I was standing in line for Chick-fil-a during one of my shifts at a mall I used to work at, when I tried to used my debit card but it declined each time she tried to swipe it. Turns out one of my bills had debited early, and I didn't have any money left to buy lunch, so a man who had already gotten his food walked back up to the counter and handed me a $10 bill, and told me today was on him. I was so thankful for him that day.

I travel a lot for work and collect those little soaps, shampoos, coffees and teas. When I get home, I put them in small zip lock bags with a granola bar and give them to homeless people in my town. I'm not saying this to pat myself on the back, but to express how much joy it gives me to see their faces when I give it to them. So....it's not entirely selfless on my part. It's a soul pancake for me, too.

nothing pops in my mind, but being the one being generous makes me feel as good as if I was received unexpected generosity. I live in a pretty hot city , and I stopped by a store to get some cold water and there was a guy asking for money to buy food for his wife, I gave him some change but inside I bought for him a loaf of bread, ham and water. He was so moved he wanted to cry. I like to think that if I ever find myself in that situation I will find kind people that will help me :)

A few weeks ago I was at a convention with my mom, sister and best friend when only two of us (my mom and friend) got wrist bands so they could go to a autograph session with internet celebs and my sister and I didn't, but my mom gave my sister her wrist band (she said it wasn't that big of a deal for her) and a complete stranger gave me hers because she didn't want it anymore. So my friend, my sister and I got to meet our ideals because of the kindness of my mother and that wonderful stranger.

I was in New Zealand backpacking with a friend. We were trying to fly home to Canada and were flat broke, spent our last dollar on our tickets. There was some bad weather that grounded our plane and we were SOL because our connecting flight was in Australia with a different airline. A random elderly couple behind us offered us a ride to the next major town three hours away to catch a flight from there a few hours later. The check-in guy switched our flights and we made it home thanks to them.

After an hour and a half of white-knuckle driving, I arrived to school only to find that all the doors were locked. A custodian let me into one of the buildings so I could get out of the cold. I was stuck a grocery about $2 short. The man ahead of me said oh I have some change left. He handed me a twenty and left before I could even thank him.

when my flight home was overbooked a group of us had to sit and wait until check-in closed to see if a seat opened up, or wait until the next day to fly. when a ticket became available, the guy ahead of me in the queue let me have it :)

At a fundraising event where I was volunteering and got to wear a fancy dress and jewelry, an older gentleman stopped to take a program from me and told me that I looked like a queen. I've never felt more beautiful.

On a trip to Dominican Republic, me and my family were walking on the beach. a local boy walked up to us and said "shell" and gestured them towards us, we said "No thank you, we don't want to buy anything." as we thought we was selling something as many people do in resorts, but the boy just smiled and said "No, I give you shell" and placed them in our hands, 4 beautiful polished shells, 1 for each of us. We said thank you, and a smiled again and waved while he walked away. :)

I am so sorry. My family was living in hotels wondering how we were going to get by when a wonderful lady we knew opened up her house to us, rent free. I was a teenager at the time. I can remember so many instances before this though where we were not so lucky. You sound like a wonderful person, and even though I don't know you I'm grateful you do things like pay for the next guy's drink at starbucks. Because that matters. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Last weekend I was in Boston on a low-budget trip for the #NoFilterShow and wanted to visit a friend who also happened to be in town. At his hotel, there was only valet parking and the rates were ridiculous... over $20 per hour. I pulled in and explained that I was only going to be there for an hour, maybe less. The valet gave me premium parking right outside the entrance, & when I returned 50 minutes later, charged me nothing. I beamed, tipped & thanked him, and left Boston feeling grateful.

I once saw a guy drop some money on the floor and he didn't know it, so I picked up the money to give it back to him but he just said "thank you, just keep it" and just walked away with a smile on his face while I stood there in shock haha

I once forgot my wallet at home and needed to pay for parking at school. And this older gentleman approached me and asked me how much it was. I was embarrased and couldn't answe so the parking lot lady told him. And he payed and said: "If my daughter was in THAT situation, I would want somebody to help her too."

We were at the Universal Park in Orlando, and it was the end of the day. It was our fifth time riding the Spiderman ride, and it was about to close. Then out of the blue the line manager let us go in the fast lane. :)

One time I was in McDonalds and I went up to get an ice-cream, only for some reason the prices were a bit higher in this one than they usually were and I was about 20p short, so I just said "Oh, don't worry about it" and went back to my seat. Five minutes later the guy behind the till came over the table and gave me an ice-cream, completely free. It was only a little thing, but I remeber it because it was just so nice :)

When I was little I went to games and didnt have enough tickets to get the big stuffed animal I wanted. Then a guy standing infront of us just asked me what I wanted and got it for me off his own card. It was really nice considering that stuffed animal was like my life dream that time haha :)
