Unearthing an American Relic in Australia! (Metal Detecting)

Спорт

‪@TheCoffeeBushKid‬ and I return to a place where we have found plenty of relics with our metal detectors, and amongst the usual shenanigans I unearth a symbolic piece of American gold rush history.
I'm using the XP Deus II metal detector with the 9" coil in this video.

In Massachusetts, I found a gold corset key, used to hook or unhook the buttons on a corset. the site was one of a 1700's tavern that had burned down in the revolutionary war.

Wonderful to see you again Mish, A brilliant start to this sunny Sunday morning, well, it was morning when I started commenting. But other things kept popping up, and distracting me. 😂😂 Amateurs! I thought I might not be detecting the old shipwreck I found now that I moved up here...well, my friend that sold me the cabin, bought a house back on the coast near that shipwreck and they have a boat dock. Howdy Mish, That belt buckle is a really cool find. They were only manufactured for 1 year in 1853. Imagine finding one in Australia. The guy who owned it must failed to strike it rich in California so he thought he'd try his luck in Australia. What an adventurer. Delightful outing, Mish! The San Francisco item is a ripper, you'd hope to circuit that area for more Americana, hopefully a rare Carson City coin, of whatever denomination, quarter cent, quarter dollar, five dollar gold, we don't mind! Always makes us feel good seeing you out detecting, and with Mr CBK, it's a double eagle scenario, it'd make the US news networks if you each found a golden eagle dollar, rather than San Francisco Australian shillings!! 😅🪙Cheers from Gabi of Narre Warren, one hill over from Prospect Hill Road! Yes, there's gold in these hills, too!

They are a great machine, and you'll still be able to get coils for quite some time due to the compatibility with the newer models. I'd definitely check the second-hand marketplace though (eg. Facebook etc), you may find that people are selling them very cheaply because of upgrading to the Manticore or 900. Cheers :)

Does Andrew wear gators to protect himself from the poisonous snakes you have in Australia? If so, does he have any antidotal stories to tell where he was glad he was wearing gaiters? Take care and stay safe.

Thanks for your concern, Ray - going gloveless is an accepted risk on my part. As for snakes, I grew up around plenty of them - I was brought up in a rural environment much like the golden triangle. A heavy stomp and good peripheral vision go far in avoiding confrontation, the snakes may be deadly but few are aggressive as long as you respect their space. Cheers. 😊
