Josh Barnes in school they taught us that the Democratic and Republican Party had gone through realignment and switched platforms, so republicans of the past had more liberal views like modern democrats. Which if you apply this everything you said is basically false, because those are conservative views. Long time ago and taken out of context...we weren't besties with China in 1971. Reagan's comments to Nixon were a reaction to Zimbabwe supporting China. I'm sure Liberals love this video because most Republicans have an affinity for Reagan.

Wasn't it just a year or so ago someone wrote an article that "white genocide would be beneficial to society"? How come I only seen that on Fox news and not being covered by any of the liberal news channels? Reminds me of the cannibal warlords of Liberia. He wasn't wrong if that's what he was talking about. There are some Africans who do engage in cannibalism.

Are we surprised?? NOPE.

This is a small snippet of the conversation that is taken out of context. The entire conversation had to do with the expulsion of Taiwan from the UN and its replacement by the PRC which is something Reagan and other conservatives felt very strongly about. The entire conversation used to be posted on KZread but apparently was taken down, probably because it established the context which goes against the anti-Reagan, anti-Nixon narrative that this posting is pushing.

Anyone else think this is fake?

I don't. Doing a Google search, I find all the major networks covering it. That is, all except Fox News. That probably tells you all you need to know.

I was born in 1987 just inside the small town of Detroit, Mi to an unwed, African American, teenage mother. My father, a mixed man, was a known drug trafficker who enjoyed the killing of prostitutes for sport. Now as many of you may or may not know racism was a very serious issue at the time. But that shit was 30+ years ago. We have real shit going on RIGHT NOW. Leave Nixons dead ass alone. Talk about the two black kids Alize Ramon Smith and Jarron Keonte Moreland of Moore, Oklahoma, that were just lynched. Or the fact that our current President is basically a not so silent partner in what could develop into a 2020 race war. "Expose" the problems that we live in that no one wants to talk about. This is important for historical reasons. This now debunks people saying that Reagan was a friend to the African American community(which should have been obvious before the tape) this shows that he was a racist that pushed for racist policies like his tax cuts🤷🏽‍♂️

Perhaps you need to familiarize yourself with what a lynching is. The deaths of Alize and Jarron, who happened to be two black men, were due to a weapon's sale arranged via Craigslist. The perpetrators, who happen to be two white men, dismembered and disposed of the bodies with help from family. A lynching is an organized premeditated public killing, an example of mob violence. That's not what happened there. The characterization of that heinous pair of murders as a lynching is to weaponize criminal behavior to incite racial divisions. Shame on you!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time there has been hard evidence of Reagan using racist language. Why shouldn't this be brought up, this is part of history. It's not like the people at Bloomberg or the person who unearthed this didn't understand that he was raised in a certain generation (and that shouldn't be used as an excuse for him) but this small audio clip allows us to see more of the 'real" Reagan.

I'm black myself, and here is my opinion. What he said was abhorrent, no doubt. But people must remember that this took place in the '60s and '70s. Back then, this kinda talk was normal, and back then people were not aware of the seriousness of the "casual racism" that was espoused in day-to-day conversations so-to-speak. But today's standards, obviously this would not be acceptable. We cannot judge people based on the normality of the societal standards of the past.

Okay Bloomberg tic toc, show us that you are fair.... play some audio of Lyndon Johnson and the things he said, they are far worse, but you won't, because you have an agenda... the pitifulness of yourselves!

What is doubly racist about this is that not a single European nation voted against the application of the People's Republic of China for China's seat at the U.N. Only two, Greece and Spain, abstained from voting. Even the UK and France voted in favor. Meanwhile, looking at the vote map on the resolution I count 13 African nations voting against the PRC's application. That's 13 more votes than the U.S. got out of Europe on the issue. So obviously the issue for him isn't the way the vote went down, but simply seeing African leaders at the U.N. They shouldn't even be sitting with in an international organization with the same standing as white leaders, is his view.

"Removed for privacy issues" ROFL If they had said "Because a flock of penguins flew over the white house at noon" I'd be more likely to believe that. Reagan was born in 1911 and Nixon in 1913. My maternal grandparents were born in 1916. They lived in the deep south. My grandmother told me, when she was a little girl, she remembers the KKK riding on horseback past her house to their weekly meeting. I'm not trying to give these 2 old white men a pass or make excuses for them, just perspective about the time period we are talking about. Reagan would have been 59-60 in 1971 (I was in 1-2nd grade) when this phone call occurred, Nixon 57-58. Notice that when Nixon repeated the conversation he said "cannibals" not "monkeys". So finally, just to highlight how new Civil Rights were, the Birmingham Movement in Birmingham, Alabama was where black school children/teens were protesting by marching toward the city center and dispersed by Fire hoses "strong enough to take bark off the trees" and K9 German Shepard riot control (attack) dogs from April to May 1963 (8 years before this tape was made). The insanity of racism and xenophobia wasn't just isolated to phone calls with high profile politicians, it was pervasive in the United States at that time. So I have to wonder if the Politically Correct will remove all statues of Reagan and Nixon, require all paintings in the White House to be taken down, change the names of libraries named after them and so on like the CSA Civil War statues and street names? (Erase History). My parting thought is that I had expected something stronger (language wise) when I saw the title of the video. I still appreciate it being uploaded, just not what I expected.

It would be nice to know the context. But... the man is dead and social norms have changed dramatically over the last 30 years or so. Calling somepeople SIR is considered disrespectful...

Reagan said those remarks because he was frustrated because they danced in the UN without shoes and were celebrating communist China being recognised globally. Reagan was one of the greatest Presidents ever and nothing will change that
