I hate polites. He made me hate this 'open arms' approach cuz whyy so dump.. Though it shows how Odysseeus was so fond of him. After his own actions and principles led to his death, Odysseeus only grew more insistent on adopting Polites' worldview, as portrayed in "luck runs out." Odysseeus never made big mistakes, it's only that he was loosely monitoring the route of actions and coincidences around him.

the fact that odysseus' mom is voiced by Jorges actual mom somehow makes this sadder-

For a few sentences I thought "Oh, this is clearly Odysseus hearing his mom's voice like he imagined Penelope and Telemachus, how sweet". Then I remembered the name of the saga and everything became blurry.

What if it’s like Tiresias saying it’s not “you” as in you’re not the same person? Since in the next song, it’s Odysseus saying he’ll become a monster at all costs and the man Tiresias sees IS Odysseus physically but not him. You know?

i really love polites part. It reminds me when I was in school trying to fit it or find somewhere to belong but everyone will most likely have their own clique. Then, one day when I was eating alone. A person like Polites (my BFF) sat with me. They are really like the light in my darkest days

the only thing that could make the first song more emotionally resonant to me is if the infant's music box theme was present somewhere.

Spring Awakening (German and English versions) In my opinion, the German language version sounds better, but the English version stars Lea Michele sometimes 🔥

I like how many repetitive melodic themes there are for characters, character names, anthems or even simple sentences. Even 'captain' has that same vibe to it. That pertinacity and stress of action it supposed to make us feel Odysseeus is under. But on top of all, the intonations of 'Penelope' wins as the most intriguing theme! Longing, sorrow, and hurt, that can some other times be altered into desire and embrace. Catchy too..

He was gone for years during a war and then lost in essentially uncharted water-locked areas during a time where message was passed along on foot. So nah, he had zero way of knowing his mother had died back home. It's heart-breaking 😭
