I was so curious about this game ever since I heard about it, since I absolutely loved Pulsar. Glad to hear your thoughts! Is the complexity, downtime and/or AP-proneness more, less or about the same as Pulsar in your opinion?

Agreed BIG TIME--- great game - by 3rd game it flows SO SMOOTHLY - you'll have your move planned as someone else finishes their turn...

It could need recessed playerboards. Besides that... Love the theme, art is fantastic, I do like the mechanic. With card drafting and multi-draw and select option the luck can be mitigated. Seems to be a solid game and definitely caught my interest!

I'm native german. Spiel2019 will be in a few days. And as some years, snice I discovered your Runthroughs I'm constantly coming here to check with Essen nominies and interesting games overall. There are some channels for german users but none of them is making playthroughs, none of them is working very well with the CAM, Not scripting or preparing cardstacks. Explanations are pretty vague as well. I'm so happy we have your playthrough. Structured and informative, sometimes funny, too. And I wonder how long it takes for you do do a 1hour video, it always looks so easy.

oh it's not easy. the hardest part is getting started actually. often i'll have 5 or 10 false starts before i find my rhythm, but once i get going i try to keep going and avoid editing :)

@@rahdo Editing is no bad thing. It's more efford doing but you can rise your production value and performance overall doing so. But you can avoid cuts by preperation and good handling with the cam. And that's what you are good at. Sometimes can't even tell if you are just acting because the cardstack could be preconstructed to show some synergies. Or are you really shuffling and let lady luck be part of the game don't know. AS a matter of fact I prefer your videos even though there would be some german videos because they don't do playthroughs and you have to guess how some decisions would play out in the later game. That's some big bonus! Pity your wife won't show up in front of the cam, I'm sure this would add something to the show.

@@Mindtwist78 my feeling is that the more i edit (or prepare) the less "alive" the video feels. the way i work now, i'm practically basically the equivalent of a live broadcast, and i think that brings an energy, where the audience knows anything could happen at any time because i'm not altering anything or setting anything up, and it improves the overall viewing experience. at least, that's how i feel about it :)

@@rahdo It's fine, was just wondering how much efford you'd take to do 5 takes for aprox an hour. But as a matter of fact it's not 5 takes a 1 hour = 5hours :) And that's a good thing even better as you are not uploading any outtakes and such. And yes you are showing feelings very well. Your happyness about some games doesn't feel strange. Not so in many sponsored videos that show unboxings here on youtube. But there wouldn't be anything wrong about preconstructing the deck to show some synergies or presenting them in closeups at the end of your fazit.

Does the dummy player come into play in the 2 player game? Seems like it would be needed to scale the tightness.

  • @rahdo

for scaling, the board is 2 sided. so the solo player ends up emulating a 2p game :)

Played this game with 4 people today, took over 4 hours (!) with rules explanation. Even according to the box, the 4 player game is almost 3 hours if you know the rules, so this is *not* a short game at all. There are zero catch up mechanisms, quite the opposite in fact, if you are ahead you will pull ahead more, and so the game is very unforgiving. Combine this with the length of the game and you may get miserable experience for players who fall behind at some point during the game. There is no interaction in this game except the usual action denying by going there first. I probably will avoid playing this game again, but YMMV

i'm not the guy to ask, as i've only played it a few times. i can say that my suspicion is that vladimir suchy (the designer, with an incredible pedigree of stellar games under his belt) is much better at spotting game balance issues after having shepherded the game through thousands of playtests over multiple years, rather than a random assortment of people on BGG who've played the game no more than i have :)

Thank you for the runthrough. I think I'll give the game a miss. It looks like a really good Euro, but it's too much like other games we've already got and I'm always looking for new mechanisms in games.
